- Wedding: June 2012
Well I’m back from the honeymoon and it’s time for a recap while it’s still semi fresh in my brain!
The wedding was full of little things that went wrong and really whose isn’t? All the little things could be overlooked though. I feel like there was a lot of wasted money in the end on things that I didn’t even touch during the wedding (like the purse I spent $50 on but never even picked up off the table). When I saw previous Bee’s say ‘in the end all that matters is that your married’ it never really sunk in until it was my turn. Seriously those are the words I’d pass on to friends, family and other Bee’s.
Now the things that went wrong:
1. They LOST my something old, new, borrowed and blue =( I was sad but I got over it within minutes. I was most sad to not have my bee pin.
2. They lost my garter, which was only a problem for the garter toss which tons of people were looking forward to… I found one from my Halloween costume and slipped it on my leg quick… so no pretty garter for the photos but hey at least I found another one lol.
3. I tripped on my dress walking up the stairs “down the aisle” on the plus side this was the only thing people “saw” that went wrong.
4. My grandmother who was supposed to handle my son let him roam free and he missed dinner. He never even got to try the amazing food I picked with him in mind specifically. =( He did dance ALL night though so the big lunch must have been enough? I was still very very unhappy though.
5.People left before we did so we didn’t get our grand exit. Most people were gone at 9:30 when it was over at 11-11:30 lol. We did end up leaving last though that was the exact opposite of what I wanted. I had a handful of awesome friends stay till the end and we turned the lights off got the glow sticks going and had a real rave style ending.
6. I didn’t get to talk to everyone. Actually maybe only half of the guests. Time was short things were always moving along and people left before I got to the other side of the room. No big deal I guess but I was still sad some people didn’t say goodbye.
7.My cousins son (ring bearer #2 cried once he got to the end of the aisle… screaming his heart out for 3 minutes before someone took him out).
So a lot went wrong but like I mentioned… nothing too noticeable. It was a great night overall but such a blur.
A small recap…
We got our nails and hair done… fun fun!
We had to finish setting up the reception hall the morning of the wedding, we also had to do a rehearsal an hour before the wedding (which I was not able to be a part of because I was already in my dress and ready to go).
We had a first look that was a lot of fun and we took the majority of our photos at that point.
I then waited for my chance to walk down the aisle as guests arrived and came to give me hugs and take photos.
We all walked down the aisle (1 Maid/Matron of Honor, 3 bridesmaids, 1 best man, 3 Groomsmen, 2 Ring Bearer and my FG) to my wonderful officiate playing 4 different violin solos for each different group of the bridal party. I walked to Wonderwall. My Darling Husband walked to Mad World.
I unfortunately tripped on my dress walking up the stairs LOL. I got to the top though and we exchanged vows and had our sand ceremony. Instead of waiting for everyone else to walk first and my groom and I walk last I jumped to the lead on accident and we walked out first LOL.
We walked back down the aisle to Cinema (Skrillex remix) on violin!! Super awesome (our friends loved it)
We did a small “parade” out front in a circle so we could do bubbles and gathered all the guests for a very difficult full group shot.
The guests went upstairs for cocktail hour and we took photos with the bridal party.
Afterwards we went upsttairs and waited in the hall to be announced. We were announced with the Cinema (Skrillex remix) actual version this time which was sooo much fun for everyone.
Then we went straight to our first daance (Mt Eden’s Oh That I Had).
After the dance were speeches (my little sister was so nervous and that made me nervous because she’s pregnant lol but she did wonderful!)
Then we went right into dinner and the night just rolled through one thing after another never slowing down. After dinner my son and I had our dance to a trance remix of Forever Young and my Darling Husband and his mom danced to Mt Edens Silence.
After that it was cake cutting (Feel So Close to You by Calvin Harris), the bouquet and garter toss (Uhn Tiss by The Bloodhound Gang) and drinks and dancing for the rest of the night.
We turned over to rave music when the older guests thinned out and we had a ton of people bring glow toys so it got pretty fun and pretty wild! My son was having more fun than anyone… people were throwing him dollar bills! Lol. People started doing karaoke including my DH… lol.
I was pretty drunk by the end of the night due to everyone buying me drinks. So I don’t think a single person was upset about the cash bar.
Overall it was pretty perfect and I’m happy with the way my 100% DIY décor turned out, the day itself and that I’m finally married!
I’m waiting for my pro pictures but I have a ton of guest photos to share for now!
(they definitely aren’t in order due to a variety of friends posting them and I just grabbed them as I went through here quickly… not a lot of time today)
the cake itself lol
for the head table we had a round sweetheart table with the bridesmaids and grooomsmen rectangular tables on both sides… it was so pretty
we used wood letters (MR &MRS as our guestbook) here they are along with the escort board
our candy table! we had 60 different kinds of candy
a close up of my AMAZING bouquet
our first kiss
the theater stage
this is my friend who walked me down the aisle and he stayed until the end raving the night away
a better photo of my bouquet (we took photos under the marquee though they forgot to put our names on it)
my bridesmaids (they carried lanterns instead of flowers)
getting ready to walk down the aisle
our first dance lol the modesty panel was coming up in the back and my bustle was too difficult for everyone to figure out so I had major dress issues up until I had enough to drink not to notice anymore hahah. Oh yes and I did end up wearing a crown.
