In general, I don’t have very good taste in clothing and looking for bridesmaids dresses has been a bit of a nightmare for me because my vision is always changing. All I know is that I want the dresses to be black.
It’s a Destination Wedding in Mexico. I think I might have found the dress and the price is right, but I’m a little worried…do you think the loose fit could end up looking disheveled or homely? Is it too casual? Is it inappropriate for the beach?
I’ve only had one bridesmaid try it on so far and I thought she looked great, but as I said…my fashion sense isn’t the best.
Please give me honest opinions on this dress. There is still lots of time before the wedding, but these dresses are on sale and I need to get them ASAP if I choose this style.
Thanks SO much in advance!

@mscuppycake: my fashion sense also isnt great. So, you may want to take my opinion with a grain of salt but i will give it to you anyway LOL. I am very plain jane. anyway, I think the dress is off. It doesnt make sense for a beach wedding and the fit doesnt seem to flattering. I dont think it works. Since I dont know much about your wedding I really cannot suggest anythign else though. I think of more of a flowy and light colored dress for a beach wedding in mexico though
I picture something in chiffon, the length, color and design depends more on the details of your wedding. I picture something like these:

This seems more of a club/party dress and it is not appropriate for a beach wedding.

I agree with everything best buddies said. I think black can totally work for a beach wedding Bridesmaid or Best Man dress, but this… isn’t it. The cut isn’t very good and it could be very unflattering. I would go with something a little more fitted and a little less like club wear.

Something like this might be better:

@mscuppycake: I actually like the dress, i think it’s lovely. As its a beach wedding, maybe conisder a different colour, possibly lighter?
I see it as versitile. I’d wear it again & be very happy to wear it as a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress.
Are your girls happy with it?

I think it’s cute and would be happy to wear it. The drapy design will allow some air to flow to help keep them cool. It will also cover up a multitide of sins around the waistline.
I think beach weddings can be elegant. They don’t need to be casual or flowy.

I know this isn’t what you were asking…but are you sure about black for a Destination Wedding in Mexico?
I had a Destination Wedding in Mexico and although I generally LOVE wearing black…Mexico is just such a colourful place. it seems kind of our of place on the beach.
Just food for thought! 😀

How much are you looking to spend?
Donna Morgan is having an awesome sale!

@cbgg: I just think black has such a classic look. It’s flattering for all body types and has a classy undertone. I also want to make sure that these girls can wear the dress again. I don’t want to get them something typically “bridesmaid-y” because it’s a very casual/flexible wedding. I realize it’s not REALLY appropriate for the beach but I’m not a big colour person.
@Sunnyinct: I’d LOVE to keep it under 100 if possible. I’ve never heard of Donna Morgan. Is it an online store?

@mscuppycake: it looks more like a clubbing dress.

If you have any ladies with larger busts and small waists, they’re likely to look prego In this dress even if you don’t notice. If I wear anything without a defined waist, ppl who know me well think I look the same (because they know my size), but ppl who don’t know me as well think I’m pregnant or quite a few sizes larger than I am. If all your girls either have the lean/model look or are bigger, it might be fine.
That said, I’d happily put up with ppl thinking I’m pregnant if it meant I finally spent under $100 on a bridesmaid dress I’ll never wear again. 😉
