i think it gives it a pretty cool vintage look. So hey. use a sealant. Like a clear matte or glossy spray. you can get them at any craft store in the spray paint aisle.

just for your info, i used those sealants after i wrote a bunch of stuff in pencil, and it sealed it in, so it wont smear no matter what you do.

edepp2010: It’s been two weeks- what happened? What did you do? Did you try a sealant?

So, I didn’t use a sealant because I didn’t want to have to move all of the envelopes to a ventilated area to spray them, and it would have been quite hard to do so without smearing them more. I went to the craft store, and looked for many different types of label stickers and clear stickers that were pre-shaped, but there was nothing. The only option they had was clear sticker sheet for the cricut Machine. It looks like bonding paper, but it’s just sticker paper with a graph on the back to cut clean lines. I cut small clear stickers to cover the stamp. They don’t look great, but they will be fine.
On the remaining envelopes I dipped the same stamp in white craft paint, which worked like a dream.
Also, the original white stamping “ink” never dried, even after a week.
