Your wedding is still awhile out. You may want to consider that there could be people you will want to invite later, or other plus one’s in the future. I would definitely try to negoiate the 30 vs 50 package, see if they can give you a break if you do in fact have 36. Are you pretty sure all 36 will be able to make it? When do you need to give final numbers, can you go with the 30 person package and switch down the road after you get your RSVP’s back?

Sounds like this venue provides a lot . I think it would add up quickly if you were to get the cake, photographer, etc. separately. Do they really need to know now if you will want the 30 vs 50 person package? Is it a room capacity issue, for example, and they need to know if they can book the other package for someone else?

@HelleCat:  so this package is for the ceremony only?

I think you are getting a lot for that price. If I was in your position I probably would just book the 50 person package. There may be other people that you might think of later that you may want to add or those you had to leave out because of strict numbers. Since your wedding isn’t until 2014 it gives you time to save extra.

@HelleCat:  Sorry, I am confused…. You said the ceremony is for family and the reception is for everyone that wants to come….. So is your 36 family and your two friends the 36 or is the everyone that wants to come the 36?

Ohh, I get it now. So the price difference really seems outrageous given they are really only adding chairs and having a little bigger cake. I really hope they work with you on price and offer you an explanation as to why there is such a big difference. $32 a person for 30 people, or $46 a person for 50= does not make sense to me. i guess factor in how much you are spending on the reception as well and if you had to change venues would you send more overall or still be saving if you went with the $2300 package.

Yeah that price change is quite the difference! Remember that venues are a business, and as such, they may be open to some offers/compromises.

Also, remember that there’s a very high chance that some people on your guest list may not be able to make it to the wedding. Whether it’s work or personal reasons, you may very well wind up right at 30 people.
