Hello all! Hope everyone is well.
I am a new USAF wife. My husband is a Capt and has been in 7 years. We have known each other almost 2 years, met on Match.com and have been married a little over a month now. Life is bliss right now (I still have a government job!) LLS! All is well. We did a JOP ceremony followed by a larger family/friends dinner, small cake, bouquet and got a room on the Strip, even though we live in Las Vegas and own a home. I am also a certified wedding coordinator, so we originally planned to have a larger reception a year after he was back from his deployment but we are totally satisfied with the JOP and have recently decided against it. We are going to use the money saved to take 2 weeks to tour Italy & Spain.

Hi – short version for now! Was getting invitations ready to send out and it is way past my bedtime! Want to post though so I can track this thread down again 🙂
My fiance is Air National Guard, but has been Title 10 for several years now, so it is a full time job. He is home with only short stateside deployments since we have been together (he was in Iraq twice before we met when the base had a different flying mission). While there are lots of frustrations (we can’t talk about his job, the shifts are horrible and always changing because they operate 24/7), I know how lucky I am that most days I will see him (or at least wake up to him sleeping!). 5 years ago, I wouldn’t have believed that I’d be marrying a guy in the military or supporting him if he gets opportunity to train for a position that would include overseas deployments again…..but I guess love will do that to a person!

I’m a USMC fiance (as of last Friday!) Does it violate OPSEC if we share where/when we’re moving? I head to my first base soon and I’m so nervous–I’d love to make friends if anyone on here is already there!
No, it doesn’t violate OPSEC at all. Just try to leave out super specifics for your own PERSEC. Base and general dates are fine :). Keep in mind you might have some more luck in military specific forums.

Okay great! I wanted to air on the side of caution. Anyway, we’re headed to Lejeune (yay NC!) I’m poking around the internet for some more military related boards, let me know if you like any in particular!

Hello everyone! I’m in the Air Force (for a few more months, anyway) and Fiance is in the Army. I’m getting out because the AF and the Army don’t really like to talk when it comes to stationing spouses together and we’re just plain tired of the distance thing.
Currently, I’m deployed and doing my best to plan via Skype. I can’t wait to be home!
Lovely to meet all of you!

OMG! I am going to be a USMC wife on Friday!!! (Already a wife, he graduates Parris Island on the 20th!!) We are really really hoping that he ends up at Lejeune, I am actually right outside the base right now visiting his aunt and uncle on vacation!! We are hoping that we end up here for our first station, but we won’t find out until June where we’re going.
It would be so awesome if we ended up in the same place! It would be awesome to have a fellow bee in the area!

Planning via skype must be crazy. Glad you’ll be with your Fiance soon! Distance sucks!

I consider myself to be a semi-military bride, LOL. Crazy situation – Fiance is a 100% disabled vet, he was onboard the USS Virginia Submarine, and developed schizoaffective disorder while underway. After he got out, he lived with his parents for 4 years, but never stopped being military 😉 He is now at the VA every two weeks, and I am constantly on the phone with the VA, DEERS (they can’t seem to get my insurance fixed) and Tricare. FI is working on volunteering on the USS Slater, and with a National Veterans Cemetary. So, still very military. He wanted to be career, and thrives on order.
For our wedding, Fiance was supposed to wear dress whites, but we decided to go with dinner dress instead. He is getting a tuxedo, and wearing mini medals and his “fish”
So, while Fiance isn’t active duty, or Guard, he and I have one thing in common – we support the military 1000%. And to all of you brides who are active duty (spouses), our hearts go out to you because of the sacrifices you make, and the long distances you deal with.

Hey everyone! I’m new! I’m actually already a USAF wife. (I’m actually really glad to have found this place to connect with you ladies and tell my story because we haven’t told many people that we’re already legally married!)
My then-boyfriend enlisted a little over a year after we started dating. I started school in Chicago (we’re from DC) around the same time. We’ve been long distance since then – I don’t have to tell any of you ladies how rough it is sometimes! But it really, really has made us stronger. Last September, 2 years into his enlistment, he proposed! We started planning for a summer 2013 wedding, and eventually, after a LOT of thought and discussion, decided to get married by a JoP this past January. Of course, our closest family knows and is thrilled. Our lives have been SOOOO much easier since then. it’s just so nice to have a little control over our situation for once.
Anyways, our “wedding wedding” is slated for next summer, just after I graduate! I’ll move out there for the last 6 months of his enlistment, and then we’ll probably move back to the DC area. In the meantime, I’m spending any time I can with him in our new house :). Being able to go be with him for long periods of time has been amazing! Now I just can’t wait for the wedding!

Just wanted to include myself on this post and try to add to beefing up our military board. 🙂
My husband and I have been married about 2 months now (I still get butterflies when I call him my ‘husband’ or he introduces me as his ‘wife’!) – he’s Navy and we’re stationed in Hawaii.
We definitely did the dating long-distance thing for about a year and a half as he was stationed overseas and going on deployments. So if anyone needs tips on maintaining your relationship over distance, I’ve got LOADS of ideas! 😀 As military spouses, I think long-distance is a part of all of our lives, either our past, current, or future.
