Calling all bees! I’m going to have what I’m picturing as this adorable milk and cookies bar at my wedding instead of cake for the guests (gasp! no cake! oh well..) anywho I’m thinking about also including some adorable milk & cookies engagement photos! Any input on picture ideas or even cookies we should include in the bar would be great! Thanks!
P.S. love this idea or hate it.. I’d love some input, just know in the end I’m going to have a milk and cookies bar because I love the idea.

@Lydibug: An engagement shoot of the two of you making a batch of cookies could be really cute 🙂
– The two of you handling ingredients
– Dabbing flower on each other’s nose
– Mixing the bowl together
– You could make them heart shaped
I would get a cute apron 🙂 hehe

I love this idea! Who doesn’t like a good cookie??

@Lydibug: I love that idea. 🙂 I have some ideas for cookie flavors! Are you planning on baking them yourself or buying them? If you’re baking them, I have a bunch of cookie recipes I could share because I bake all the time, lol.
Anyway, I think chocolate-chip is a given! Some other options are: peanut butter cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, oatmeal chocolate-chip cookies (my personal favorite), ginger snaps, macadamian nut cookies, snickerdoodles, macaroons, cream cheese cookies, and sugar cookies (maybe shaped like a heart, like @O.My.Heart
suggested). I’m starting to wonder why we’re not offering this at our wedding because my fiance goes crazy over cookies, haha.

@O.My.Heart: That does sound lovely I will keep your ideas in mind, Thanks!

@MrsZynxy: Thank you! exactly what I was thinking.. I would much rather enjoy a cookie and a glass of milk than eat a slice of cake.

@Lydibug: Love your idea, I think its really cute! I agree with O.My.Heart
ideas of the baking for the engagement pictures!
As for cookies, does your family do a lot of baking of cookies? Maybe ask some of your family their favourite home made cookies. You could get some older recipes that your parents or grandparents use to make from your childhood and incorporate them into the cookie bar! Can’t go wrong with a good old chocolate chip cookie with a glass of milk 🙂

@bakeress1: I was thinking we (being all the lovely baking ladies I know) are going to be baking the majority of the cookies and possibly buying some other favorites, my fiance is an oreo lover so a tray of those will probably be included. I have also been buying up paper straws in all different patterns with the wedding colors and I cannot wait to see it all come together!

Mmmmm, cookies! I think that would be adorable!

What a cute idea! 😀
Are you going to offer flavoured milk? Because that would be awesome! There’s a milk & cookies “bar” in Toronto and although i find their cookies way too sweet, it’s such fun going there! (It’s called Moo Milk Bar if you want to google it for flavour ideas – I’m not affiliated to them in any way.)
For cookie flavours, as PPs have suggested, chocolate chip is a given. I also love sugar cookies (plain, but I guess they can be iced to match your theme), shortbread, pumpkin cookies, linzer cookies (which would be so great for decor – just punch the top layer with a heart-shaped cookie cutter of your initials, and let red jam peek through!), whoopie pies…so many possibilities!
For you engagement photos you should definitely stock up on cute & colourful sprinkles, milk with cute straws, an apron…that’d be adorable!

@O.My.Heart: LOVE the idea of doing photos of you two baking.

@Lydibug: Eh, I’m not that thrilled about the idea of missing out on cake for any reason and I think the idea of milk and cookies is kind of underwhelming. Swapping out cake for an ice cream sundae bar gets me excited. But milk and cookies? Doesn’t really float my boat. IDK maybe I would find it cute if I knew you guys. Sometimes ideas don’t really appeal on paper (well, techinally screen) but they seem great in real life.

You guys are all too sweet!
@ChicFoodist: I have been thinking over the flavored milk option, what we’re doing is making up the jars of milk beforehand. (they are actually recycled starbucks Frap jars so they look like the vintage milk bottles) So I’m debating if I should include some syrups on the bar or have some premade bottles with a strawberry and chocolate option. Each of the jars will also be personalize with a little chalkboard area on the front for our guests to use to write their names on. With the paper staws I’m thinking it will have a vintage feel and hopefully will be as adorable as I’m picturing it all!

@Lydibug: The only problem/concern is how would you keep it cold. I LOVE my milk ICE cold, literally ice cold … with ice in it, so how would it stay at a cold enough temp to drink it?

Sorry … just saw what you were doing!
