soo my Mother-In-Law bought a dress for the wedding .. FYI i haven’t shown anyone except my own family what my dress looks like. Obviouly its not the same dress but same concept with “roses” on the skirt. i’m not sure how i feel. well honestly i don’t love the idea. what do you girls think? clearly my dress is more dramatic but i think its weird to have like “matching” skirts mehhhhhhhhhhh.
this is what her dress looks like except long not short:
here is mine:

I don’t think they look similar enough to worry about it.

Yeah, I don’t think they look similar enough to make a big deal about it either. Hers is much tighter flowers whereas yours is more abstract-looking.

That’s insaane. I totally get what you’re thinking!
I wish I had some decent advice but I don’t have a clue what I’d do! Maybe mention politely that you’re worried they look similar, and find out if it’s possible to return hers – if it is your problem’s solved (presuming you have a compliant Future Mother-In-Law haha)
Good luck! xx

I assure you no one will think they look similar, especially if her dress is black. Try not to get worked up over this, it’s a non-issue.

I don’t think they are much more than remotely similar.

@prettyprincess: I don’t think they look similar

@prettyprincess: I don’t think they match at all. Your dress has rosette-type ruffles on it, while hers has actual rosettes on the skirt; your dress has much more random ruffles, and her rosettes are very orderly. I actually think they’ll look lovely next to each other, and coordinate very well – I doubt they’d look weird or even “matchy” at all, just in a similar style (interesting, architecturally detailed skirts).

Beyond both being dresses, there’s no similarities.
I see what you were thinking that both have a designed bottom but I think they will look really nice together in your pictures! I actually quite like them working both together!
I see what you mean about them both having roses, however, I don’t think they really look all that similar or matchy. I do think they will compliment each other nicely in pictures though.

@prettyprincess: What color is her dress? Unless her dress is ivory/peach/blush I don’t think anyone will even notice. Even then, I see your skirt as swirly more than rosette-y.

I can see how you find them similar a bit, but I think they are very different and will compliment each other in photos and such actually. Truly I think it’s kind of special.
If you’re really opposed though (and you have a good relationship) I don’t think it would be terrible to mention it to your Mother-In-Law…especially since she doesn’t know what your dress looks like.

i wouldn’t worry about it. they look very different

No, they don’t look similar enough to have it cause a problem. If I saw both those dresses IRL I wouldn’t even make a connection.
Pretty wedding dress!
