I posted previously about the history of my ering. You can read it for background info if interested:
I love having my FI’s Grandmother’s engagement ring and I also love that’s it’s like my FMIL’s engagement ring. When FI’s Dad (deceased) proposed to her he used his Grandmother’s engagement ring. In other words, Future Mother-In-Law and I both have our Love’s Grandmother’s erings.
They are both classified as Half Hoop design. Mine is platinum and hers is gold. Mine is circa 1935. Her’s is circa 1888. Mine is from Montreal and we believe hers is from England since that is where the family is originally from and they used to go back to visit frequently. Half Hoop style rings were often used as erings in England during the Victorian era. Whereas mine has 5 diamonds, she has 3 diamonds and 2 rubies. The TCW is pretty well the same on both. *Bonus fact – 1888 Great Grandma dated a man who went on the become a Canadian Prime Minister before dating and marrying Great Grandpa. FMIL doesn’t remember which one unfortunately.
I’ve been wanting the get a photo of our rings together and tonight I finally worked up the nerve to ask.
I seriously love his family history. Thanks for reading 🙂
