Ha, I do this all the time. Fiance and I moved in about a year and a half ago, and I still say to him, “Oh, can you get me xyz out of my bedroom?” =P old habits die hard I guess!

Ha ha!  I can definitely sympathize!  I just quit using possessive words as much as I used to.  So instead of “your house” I just called it “the house”.  🙂

lol I do this all the time too. It’s hard to change that.

We have 2 cats (1 was his, 1 was mine). When they’re behaving, they’re “our” cats, but when one is misbehaving, I’ll say “his” cat is acting up.

I said “mine” or “my” all the time and didnt even notice it!  Darling Husband totally called me out on it and then I realized I was doing it!

I do, too, mostly bc we moved into his house.  But, he goes too far the other way.  He’ll say ‘we’ when it is JUST him, to the point I sometimes have to correct him.  He’ll be like “we want to do xyz” even though it is something we haven’t discussed and that is just his thought…I can’t think of a good example, but I have to stay “which ‘we’, bc that isn’t what I did/said/thought?”  😉

I keep catching myself referring to “my” future children, even though obviously they will be “ours”!

I love that everything is ours. But, I cant wrap my head around our house. In my mind, its still his since we didnt buy it together. Hopefully, as I work my magic decorating skills (haha), it will soon feel our worthy.

Oh man – I was hoping the whole yours/mine/ours thing would get helped along with an actual wedding!

I moved into “his” apartment after we got engaged and along with not being able to call it “ours”, I can’t make myself feel like its ours.  So we’re moving at the end of the month!!

I adopted a dog 3 days before FI and I met but despite the 3 of us all knowing each other for the same amount of time, Romie is most definitely MY dog.  We adopted a 2nd dog 3 months after getting engaged, only a few weeks before moving in together, and I still call that dog MINE, too.  I guess I’m not good at sharing…

Oh Arancia, I feel your pain on the furniture, I to am stuck with glass tables and the most hideous chandlier known to man that he says was an improvement over the orginial not. I wish we could sell, but not in this market.

Kayakgirl73, I hear ya! The market is terrible. We’ve decided to have a super intimate ceremony right in our house- and that was a HUGE determining factor that we need to start painting and rearranging! Our big reception will be in 2011, but for the spring ceremony next May we have a lot of painting and selling of furniture to do! Thank goodness for HGTV and the inspiration of Sarah Richardson!!!

I have this problem too! We just bought a house, so I know I keep saying that the stuff I buy for it is mine, even though it is OUR house! I have until May to work on it though, hopefully I’ll be good by then.
