Hello bees! I’ve been lurking for awhile, and now I need help! My husband and I are renewing our vows in June and I’ve been encouraging him to be more involved with the planning/personal touches (silly me…) He came up with the idea of naming the tables after Minecraft characters. Fine with me, but he wants pictures of the characters and…it doesn’t match. Our colors are yellow, gray, and white. And our venue is a yacht club. I don’t want to destroy the poor man’s dreams (this is the one thing he hasn’t basically been like “I don’t care, whatever” about), but it would look ridiculous. How else can I incorporate his Minecraft addiction without looking totally silly???? Help!

@winkibat: I have a few ideas to throw out that may or may not work for you (as my Fiance plays minecraft as I type lol). Im not sure how you were planning to have them, printed up on a card or paper, but perhaps you can get frames in your colors and then have a smaller picture of the character in its own color. I dont think the actual character would matter match as long as you tie in your theme colors to the table number too. OR what if you just convert the picture to a grayscale? Fiance says with the 8 bit feature it may lose its effect as which character is which if its gray but grayscale will still have depth and shadow. Grayscale is an option in most photo editors.
Either way I dont think that adding in a few colors to just your table number that divert from your white gray and yellow color scheme would affect the overall feel of the space.

@nl: Yeah, maybe I can talk him down to a smaller pic. Like a 5×7 piece of cardstock with character name in a larger font with a 1 or 2 inch avatar under it? I just keep picturing a giant picture of an enderman or snow golem next to my pretty bowl of lemons and freaking out! Irrational, I know. It’s his day too.

Does it really need to be the table number? Maybe you can do a groom cake with Minecraft caracter. My Fiance really love the advenger and that kind of comic book thing. So like youe I have to talk him out of using image of avengers for table number. I just told him, I’ll bring it some where in the wedding. So I’m making a suprise for him. I’m doing a decoupage shoes like the picture below. So no one will really see it until the shoes game. I know he’s going to love it!!

My fiance plays Minecraft all the time (I’ve tried but can’t get into it) so your post immediately reminded me of a Minecraft themed wedding I once saw on Geekologie.
You’ve probably already Googled “Minecraft wedding” but I really think the Minecraft Jones Soda bottles are an awesome idea. They look great and on trend with rainbows (like the rainbow BM’s dresses/shoes trend) but are subtle, useful, and delicious! You could use them as escort cards as many people tend to do with glass Coke bottles.

@winkibat: I know how it is when you have a vision. The other bees posted really cute ideas and I love the jones soda thing. I couldnt get it off the screen before Fiance saw it or I would have maybe found him one waiting for him on the sweetheart table. I have other surprises tho….
