My grandma just begged me to get this certain mineral make up that I can’t remember the brand name of. She begged me to get it because apparently my acne affected her life personally.

When I finally gave in, and let her buy me it, she dragged me to Sephora and they sampled some on my skin. It didn’t work. My skin type was too dry, and it looked like I had snake skin. So I started moisturizing (which I hadn’t been doing beforehand)

We went back again about two months, when I had been obsessively moisturizing (and my skin was looking much better), but when they put it on, it still didn’t look right! I just need heavy coverage, as I have weird blotchy red skin a lot.

The mineral veil was nice, however, but I couldn’t use it as a foundation. It just didn’t give me enough coverage. However, if you have beautiful skin like my grandma does, and don’t need heavy coverage, then it might be a great idea.

Definitely NOT worth the hype…. nano-sized particles can have all sorts of potential health concerns that regular size particles of the same ingredients do not (even “natural” ingredients). They are not safe.

I would never use anything else I love it.

It is a little messy to use but if you take the time it looks amazing.

Since using my skin is so much clearer. I use Nude byNature love it:)

I wear mineral make up for my foundation. I find eyeshadow and blush a bit hard to use because it’s loose. I much prefer pressed powders since you have more control over how much you apply.

I use Everyday Minerals. They’re 100% natural and feel great on my skin. They also let you order a free sample kit so you can try out their products and find your color.

I use bare escentuals mineral makeup and I LOVE it for everyday wear. It is light and natural looking and, best of all, easy and quick to apply in the mornings. I only use the foundation/bronzer and sometimes mineral veil (no eyeshadow or blush or anything). If you have decent skin, it will work (but I think it would be hard to get full coverage for problem skin). For special occasions I sometimes use a heavier liquid foundation.

I also got their cream concealer and it is SOO smooth and creamy. I use it to cover any part I don’t like and then use a relatively small amount of the foundation so it doesn’t feel cakey or dry. It also works well on top of a light tinted moisturizer for a more flawless finish.

And use their primer if you go that route, it really helps a lot.

Doesn’t do anything for me…doesn’t cover anything…just looks like nothing. I hate it.

I’ve tried various brands of mineral makeup and I just cannot get used to it. I don’t like the finish, I can never seem to get a perfect colour match and I find it messy and chalky looking no matter how hard I blend. I’ve used Cover FX for a few years now and wouldn’t use anything else. It’s full coverage makeup and oil free, my skin has looked great since I started using it.

I used to work at a make up store so I saw the best and worst of mineral make up.

Mineral make up is great if

    – you dont need a lot of coverage (it does not cover well)

    – you want something light

    – you want to put something on thats easy (very hard to mess up the application)

    – people with wrinkles, uneven skin (it cakes in wrinkles)

    – dry skin- it get patchy

    – oily skin- gets soaked in

    – people who dont touch up their make up (mineral make up looks best when touched up after 6 + hours)

I hate bare minerals! It does not come off when you wash your face. I’m on tons of acne meds, and one doctor recommended it, but it’s horrible.

I currently use Sephora brand powder foundation and I love it!

I love it, it’s perfect for me, but I think it’s best for people that don’t need a lot of coverage. I’m very lucky to have clear and even skin, so mineral makeup just help me looked more finished. I don’t wear foundation normally, and wear Bare Minerals for special occasions that I do a full face of make-up. I like it best of the mineral brands I have tried. I’ve tried L’Oreal’s mineral foundation and I hate it, even the lightest color is too dark for me. I like their soft focus finishing powder though, I dab it over any blemishes that I had to conceal that I don’t feel like wasting the expensive stuff on. But if you have significant acne or redness I don’t think it’s the best choice.
