So Fiance and I decided that for a honeymoon we really wanted to go to a nice resort, somewhere warm, all inclusive etc etc. We thought though that it seemed somewhat wasteful to go right after our wedding, since early November isn’t even really that cold. But we still wanted to ‘get away’ for a few nights after the wedding. Solution? A mini moon and a honeymoon! Fi is in charge of the full honeymoon (that we’ll probably do in January) but I booked our mini-moon today!
We’re staying here, at the 100 year old hotel we’re having our reception at. I’ve booked a suite for a few nights. I also booked us in at the glorious spa. We’re doing a hamam package which includes the regular hamam services, a couple’s massage and facials followed by a spa lunch! I’m super excited! The spa at our hotel is supposed to be one of the best in Canada and I go there as often as I can because it is just sooooo luxurious and wonderful! They have steam rooms and a eucalyptus rain mist shower and the services are just divine!
What are you all doing for your minimoons or honeymoons?

@futuremrste: that sounds amazing and very relaxing! Perfect for after the stress of wedding planning! And the bonus is having the homeymoon in January to look forward to!
We will definitely be going on a honeymoon directly following the wedding, but to where I have no idea. We’ve discussed it and we both have the same ideas but I want it to be a surprise so I don’t know 100% yet! I’m looking forward to finding out! 🙂

@futuremrste: I had to look up what hamam is but now that I did, that sounds awesome!
We’re taking a week long honeymoon to Florida and the Bahamas right after our wedding. We’ll spend a couple of days in Orlando, then travel to an all-inclusive in the Bahamas for the rest of the week. It’s actually a trip we planned on taking before we even got engaged…we just have to move the dates.

@blastkiss: Our January honeymoon is going to be a surprise for me. I gave Fiance 3 conditions: adults only, all inclusive and as few flights as possible!
@snd485: I guess I should have explained what a hamam is! For all those who haven’t looked it up, it’s a turkish bath. There’s warm marble slabs everywhere, you scrub up with a salt scrub, they have cold, warm and hot water to rinse off with, with the package we’re getting it includes a scrub down with a mitt by a spa attendant and what not. This is what we’ve booked http://www.tenspa.ca/hamam-treatments.cfm the couple’s retreat for two. I can’t wait!!!

We went to Prince Edward Island and ate lobster and were lazy. It was great, although more expensive than I had planned.

We can’t afford to go on the honeymoon we want, so we plan on taking a trip around our great state of Michigan. Probably just 4 to 5 days. Then, for our first anniversary I think we plan to take the real “honeymoon” to an all-inclusive, luxury fly fishing resort in Montana, complete with a spa and fine dining (we aren’t beach people).

Nice plan! We’re doing something similar: mini-moon to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a couple of days after our wedding and then big trip to Scotland next summer.
