you may want to post this in your local section- I received some good ideas for our mini-moon that way.

What kinds of things do you like to do? Here are a few ideas off the top if my head: Gatlinburg, Hocking Hills, Lake Erie/Put in Bay, Lake Cumberland?

West Coast of Michigan. South Haven, Saugatauk, Grand Haven…. A few days on Lake Michigan is almost as good aa a few days in the Caribbean IMO 🙂

@SpartyOn:  I second the west coast of Michigan.  It’s absolutely beautiful there and the beaches are great.  You could stay in a lovely b&b – there are tons!

You could do Gatlinburg or if you like more “city stuff” there are some nice hotels/restaurants/entertainment in Indianapolis and Chicago if that’s not too far!

I’ll also vote for Grand Haven and/or Saugatuck!  How far away are the Poconos from you?  You could have a lovely weekend in the mountains.

lrohde Sorry I didn’t see this till just now!!  If you go to a place like South Haven, I would stay at a little bed and breakfast, or rent a house on the beach…South Haven is smaller area so it can be a lot more crowded than other beach towns farther north in MI.

My family has a cottage in Ludington MI that has really nice Lake Michigan beaches, just a few hours father north of South Haven.  I know that area a lot better, so I could actually suggest specific hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts there.  Ludinton also has miles of beaches that can be super private, as well.

Grand Haven would be good too because it’s bigger, and everyone loves the beaches there, but I don’t know any specific secrets of good places to go, like I do for Ludington, or farther north!  Let me know if you need any information about up there 🙂

I second a cabin on acreage near water in Hocking Hills.
