@AB Bride:   Really?  That stinks.  I had no idea prices in Canada were that much higher than the US.

Dude. A friend of mine in NZ was telling me how much more expensive makeup is there. MAC eyeshadows are $14USD here, but in NZ, they’re double that. Drugstore brands are like $20USD for mascara! A $6USD mascara!

I know the feeling!  Frustrating, especially when prices are not even close. I’m fortunate enough to live a 10 minute drive from Detroit, so I always do my shopping there for larger purchases.  Or Amazon, love them.

@AB Bride:  Grr, you’re lucky when it comes to sales tax! Us bees in Ontario have to pay 13%! Imagine my dismay when my e-ring got delivered and I had to shell out more than $200 in taxes to the FedEx guy -.-

And I do agree with you about having to pay more. It sucks! My dad goes to the States regularly and tells me how much cheaper everything is. Time to make some trips down!

I especially hate when it’s actually printed on the item, like books/magazines.  Or, I was shopping at Osh Kosh for a baby gift and it was printed right on the item: US $19.99, CAN $39.00, and I was like… seriously, double the price here??

Isn’t it partly to do with the exchange rate though? Like a Canadian dollar is worth about $0.80 in the US (I have no idea if that’s the actual number, I guessed), so it’s going to take more Canadian dollars to get to the same value with US dollars.
