Hello Bees,
With all the costs of a wedding, Fiance and I need to delay a big trip kind of honeymoon until we recoup some of our funds. We are hoping to take a few days after the wedding to just bask in each other’s company. Since we’re getting married in Santa Barbara, which is already a semi-destination wedding as we live in the SF Bay Area, we wanted to stay down there so we don’t have to travel very far. We’re looking for something quiet and sweet, maybe a B&B not too far from horseback riding or not a huge drive to the beach. Any advice on places that won’t cost a thousand a night or some other such huge cost would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, lovelies!

North is San Louis Obispo, Moro Bay etc and that area is beautiful. South you would have the typical Socal beaches and then of course Catalina Island.

I’m trying to schedule a vacation to Big Sur and I’m getting the best info from tripadvisor.com. Reviews, pictures, and a link to prices. Santa Barbara was my second choice. Where are you getting married there?

@Treejewel19 My fiance is from San Luis Obispo, so we go there a lot to visit his mom. We’ll definitely look into Catalina Island! Thanks for the tip!
@ananeele I’ll check out tripadvisor. Thanks so much! We’re getting married at Rockwood Women’s Club. Just took a trip out there last weekend for catering tastings and even in January, the sunset was amazing so I’m really excited. Big Sur is gooooorgeous!

Feel free to PM me anything you know about Carmel or Big Sur. I’m in information overload yet know nothing or where to even start.
I was going to say if you wanted to travel 4 hours south, since it is a mini-moon, I grew up hearing from my parents say that Hotel Del Coronado is the most romantic and best place on earth. They still babble on about it. I was more interested in Sea World and the Zoo, but we moved from CA 25 years ago and they still talk about it (they even still buy their sweatshirts and hats online). I also read about a spot where you can ride horses on the beach, but it was in Obispo and Pismo Beach.
Did you see the Santa Barbara courthouse? I’ve seen so many awesome wedding photos there online.

@ananeele: We go to Big Sur and Monterey all the time on weekends. Feel free to PM if you want any information, it is one of our favorite places to get away. 🙂

Big Sur and Carmel are a lot closer to SF than Santa Barbara. I would look into the Ojai Valley Inn. On the more pricey side but a beautiful resort and spa. In a really cute town with shops, restaurants, definitely horseback riding. It’s further inland from the beach, but only 20 mins or so.
Santa Barbara itself would be great too! There’s horseback riding in Goleta, just north of SB.
