@AB Bride I know for a fact that my church will do it for free and not expect a tip or anything if you are a truly needy couple.I think though, that there are just cheap brides who try to take advantage of this without being members of the church family.

While our church was free, we donate a lot weekly to our church and we made a big donation for our wedding and tipped the priest.

if you do license + officiant = between 460 and 520, based on 100-160 for the license and 360 for the officiant.

If you do city hall it’s 160$ for Monday to Friday between 9am-4pm, 284$ for Friday between 5-7 and Saturday 1-3. License (if obtained within the city) is 160$, if you drive  approx 20 minutes outside to a small town it’s 100$ (what we did! Even if you factored in gas it still worked out cheaper). So I would say the MINIMUM to get married here is between 260 and 320.

If you do it in Arlington County (VA) it’s 30$ for the liscence and 50$ for the court to marry you. $80 total!

Cheapest way to do it in my Utah town – marriage license for $40, do the ceremony right in the county clerk’s office (free).  She just stands up from her desk.  Yes, I did it like that 10 years ago.

In Jackson, Wyoming it would be $25 for the license and $50 for an officiant (in town, weekday).

$85 for the license in Baltimore City, plus the officiant. We have a friend who did the on-line thing, so we *could* get married for under $100.

@PinkMagnolia:  there are a few clergy here in town and in our villages who will do ceremonys for free depending on your income, but you still need to probide the marriage certificate and that can get expensive depending on where are are from.

Only $20 for a marriage license here. Our officiant is my friend’s mother so she’s free although we plan to give her a really nice gift. : )

ETA: Should mention that although the license fee is cheap officiants seem to be about $150- $300 depending on what you want. So unless you just have to make a donation to your church or have a friend like lucky lil ol’ me it can get pricey quickly. In my county they don’t have JOP weddings anymore either.

Mine was a higher- $250-300 just to have a judge/ officiant marry you- 250 was “in the chambers” and $300 was absolute cheapest person that would “go somewhere else”.

The license was $115.  🙁  We got ripped off!  Haha!  J/K

So- $415 for us, $365 at the absolute cheapest.
