I gave my Out of Town guests about 7 weeks to RSVP because I sent their invites out earlier. But my local guests only have about 3 weeks to RSVP, so I think it depends

It depends on how soon your caterer needs your numbers. We gave them a month to RSVP (giving us a month before the wedding) so we can follow up with people and give the final numbers to the caterers.

I think I’d give at least 3 weeks.  But honestly, those who are going to procrastinate will.  How hard is it to throw an RSVP in the mail?  If those who need flights didn’t get an STD, I’d send them out earlier, but 3 weeks sounds OK to me.

ETA: 2 weeks would probably be fine too.  Again, how hard is it to throw a piece of paper in the mail?

When does your caterer or reception venue require the final guest count?

Experts recommend you give people up to 2 weeks before that date, so that you can call the remainder of people to confirm if they are (or are not) coming. And the reason for calling the remainder of people is so you don’t have surprise guests show up unexpected at the reception.

@meerkat Ohh, makes everything much easier.. although are you renting chairs/tables, ordering favors, or anything that requires a definite guest count? If not then you can be really relaxed about it.. like just 2 weeks before the date. Good Luck!

I think 2 weeks is enough especially if the reception is next month – people should know their summer/vacation plans so they should be able to tell you pretty quickly yes or no.

Sometimes if people have longer to RSVP they’ll forget about it.

Mine all have about a month to RSVP.  I’m a little late as well, Should have had them out last week, but looks like everything will be out tomorrow.
