Luxe Bridal! I had an amazing experience. It isn’t a chain and was very boutique in feel. Cookies champagne wine water. It was great!!

I am from Fargo ND and went everywhere looking for a dress. Multiple trips to MN and SD and I had the best luck at “A Specialty House” in St.Cloud. They give you a book of all the dresses they have in the store and you go through that to pick what ypu want to try on. Their staff was awesome and friendly. I loved the experience there. good luck to you! I know what it’s like to be picky, I went to at least 10 bridal stores and would sit online for hours searching for my perfect dress!

I third the wedding shoppe. I was a size 12 and tried on 7 or 8 dresses during my appointments with no problems (all of them zipped/tied/buttoned). I ended up buying a sample off the rack for nearly 50% off the ordering price. My appointment was 3/2/13, so maybe see if they have any sample “events” posted on their website. Such a great deal!

@CareyJoRichards: I’m VERY picky but once I find the right dress I am incredibly decisive. But I need to see ALL my options first, lol. I think I did find “the one” online that I absolutely adore but I’m not sure if it is too over the top for a vineyard wedding…

I went to the wedding shoppe twice and didn’t like anything. One time I got stuck with two beginner consultants and they were extremely awkward and not helpful. I did like a girl named Sashka though.

@castaway83: Wow that really is a great deal! I love saving money. I fell in love with a dress I found on the weddingshoppeinc’s website and now I’m like on a misison that I MUST get there and find it. It’s a little spendy but not totally out of the ball park for me so if there was a way I could get it at a great deal I don’t think I could possibly pass up! Do you happen to have a picture of yourself in the dress you got? I would love to see!

@crisy003 That’s awesome! If you haven’t already, I would recommend calling them to make sure that they have that style in the store, and also check to see what size sample they have it in. Here’s me picking my dress up from alterations, less than a week before my wedding. My dress was originally $20– (I don’t remember exactly how much) and I got it for $899. (No tax on clothes in MN, yahoo!)

And here’s a pic of me and my bridesmaids day of 🙂

@castaway83: You look absolutely beautiful in your gown! I sent an e-mail to the shop and they did not have the dress I was wanting available to try on, only similar styles from the same designer, however there is a store called Rhylan Lang in Omaha NE that looks like they would have it. I would at least be able to go down there (same length of drive as it would be for me to go to St. Paul) and see the gown in person and then decide at least. the Wedding Shoppe did say they would be able to order it if I was interested down the line so I’m definitely keeping them on my list of places to visit! 🙂

@crisy003: I am close to the same size as you are and had luck at most shops….they definitely had more dresses in smaller sizes but there were always SOME that I could try on. I went to the Wedding Shoppe, Heartstrings (Hopkins), and Diamond Bride and Formal (Plymouth). I actually purchsed my dress from Diamond Bride and Formal.

@crisy003: Thank you! There are definitely options, but you will have to try on some dresses that just don’t fit. It can be frustrating at times, but we all eventually find something that we love! Good luck and enjoy it!

Well I went the complete nontraditional route and I actually ordered my gown online! I know, AHH! Big risk. If it doesn’t work out the store has a full refund return policy so it’s not too scary. I think I’ve officially lost enough weight to be out of the “plus size” zone. Very nervous, but very excited! This gown is absolutely uninque and beautiful!
