Yay Minnesota brides! We live in Los Angeles but our having our wedding in St. Paul!  (I’m from the area FH is from Boston)  Here’s our vendor list so far….our date is Sept 19, 2011 (the Sunday was the only date available for our venue but it’s saved us some money so yay!)

Ceremony and Reception: Harriet Island in St. Paul

Wedding Planner: Joelle at Fete Perfection (can not say enough amazing things about her and the company!! I am doing a lot of DIY but she has been amazing with ideas, contract issues etc)

Catering/Drinks: Three Sons—great tasting experience and easy to work with

Dress: Priscialla of Boston (sample sale yay!)

Florist: Chez Bloom

DJ: Instant Request

Rentals: Apres Party Rental

Photographer: Jen Doan–I knew I wanted film not digital so this upped our budget a little but for me it’s worth it; her stuff is amazing and it’s all on film.

Cake: Buttercream–three different flavors Laughing

Guest hotel room blocks: The Saint Paul Hotel (getting ready there which makes me smile thinking about it) and the Crowne Plaza St Paul Riverfront

Since we don’t live in the area we did a lot early in the new year when we were back visiting–love checking things off the list!  Need to figure out transportation—I have no idea what that will cost and I’m nervous to find out.

FYI for other MN brides–we are doing mismatched vintage dessert plates and tea cups for our cake/coffee table.  I’ve been collecting them since we go engaged because I knew I wanted this look!  We have 200 dessert plates, 200 cups and saucers and if any of you brides love this look like I do and want the items after our wedding let me know!!!  It takes a long time to collect that many and I think FH and I are exhausted after months of collecting–but it will be worth it for our pretty vintage dessert table!

Another Minnesota bride here!  Whoo hoo, I completely agree with the love of MN sentiments, I love it, eight feet of snow and all!  A few of our details:

Date – October 8th, 2011

Ceremony: Faith United Methodist Church, Spring Valley, MN

Reception: Community Center in SV – we are going for a low key, reflective of us, rustic theme – candle lit mason jars, fall maple leaf decor and a sweet, sweet nail keg converted into a card box by my wonderful father!

Caterer: Tarsillas

Beverage: Working on this one

DJ: Not even sure their company name! It’s a really reasonable husband and wife team my fiance found from Winona.

Hair/Make-up: Personal attendant – she’s the bomb!

Photographers: Sarah Peterson – http://www.petersoncreative.net/ Helps she’s family too!

Videography: Future sister in law – realistically I’m never going to watch this, maybe once so saving $ on this one!

Cake: Buttercream: Looking at Walmart – don’t judge their cakes are delicious and they can do a bang up decorating job!

Flowers: Anyone have recommedations!!??  I don’t want to have FTD cookie cutter bouquets!

Yay Minnesota brides!!! I am from the Twin Cities, getting married in St. Paul, but planning from TX. Here’s what we’ve got down so far….

Date: October 8, 2011

Ceremony & Reception: Dakota Lodge in Thompson Park – West St. Paul (this place is AWESOME, and the people there are great to work with)

Dress: Brides of France

Alterations: Louise Kegley – just contacted her to get things set-up and have heard awesome things about her!! The lady BOF’s recommends sounds scary – apparently she likes to get people done in one fitting and that just didn’t sound good to me.

Catering: Crave Restaurants (have been alright to work with so far, they seem a little busy with their restaurant stuff, but their food is awesome and I think it will all work out!)

Alcohol: Crave + some home-brewed kegs of beer FI’s brothers will be brewing!

DJ: Adagio (read great things on Angie’s List, and we got them during a special)

Photographers: KMD Creations out of Florida (I can’t freakin wait to work with these two! Their stuff is AMAZING and I drool over their blog all the time!)

Flowers: 99% sure we are going with Peggy Britton – she has been just great so far, so nice to work with, and more personable than some other company. She will also be doing some day-of stuff for us.

Hair & Make-up: Pretty sure I will be going with Smart & Chic Bride – They get great reviews and my first recommendation about them was from one of my BM’s whose sister used them for her wedding.

Cake: We are going simple, 1 layer prob about 10 inch for the cake, then having various mini desserts, etc. Probably will look into Buttercream.

Officiant: Friend of Fiance and I – one of the few people who really knows us each as individuals, not just a couple, that means a lot to us.

My ladies and I are staying at the Westin Edina the night before, and then Fiance and I are staying there the night of our wedding. It is AMAZING!

That actually made me feel like we’ve made good progress!

This is an older thread, it appears… but I’m a new MN bride! Anxiously awaiting summer of 2012 and just starting to look at venues. I found my dress already and I wasn’t even looking… Isn’t that how it’s supposed to be, though? 🙂

Hi fellow MN bees!

I guess I need to represent the boonies!!!  We are getting married at our home in Paynesville,mn and having our reception just at a local restaurant that has a hall.  I am hoping that praying that our MN fall will be as beautiful as it was last year as our wedding is outside!  A lot the the things I am doing myself or buying online so I don’t have much for vendor info.  I bought my dress on ebay after trying it on at david’s bridal….wasn’t impressed with the david’s staff.  My girls are getting their dresses at celebration bridal (formerly krouseys) in Little Falls.

Hi Bees!  Any MN brides still on here?  These are from a few years ago.  Anyone else getting married soon?  We’re set for June 2015 at Theodore Wirth Chalet and Wedding Hill.  I’d love to talk with bees in MN who are in the planning stages (and those who’ve successfully made it through!!!)!

Hi Parada!  Weddingbee doesn’t tell you when people respond to your posts…  Sorry this is late.

Where are you at with planning?  Right now I’m brainstorming bridesmaid dresses.  I have most of the big stuff done (the venue, caterer, officiant, DJ, dress, shoes, headpiece, bridal party).  Still need to work on the cake (FI and I disagree on this one!), ceremony details…  I’m not feeling too overwhelmed, I’m actually feeling on top of things for the time being!

  • Wedding: May 2017

This thread is pretty old by now, but in any case…

We are getting married on the beach at Madden’s next May. Dress is from The Wedding Shoppe; Photographer: Britt DeZeeuw; DJ: Eric Sands; most of the rest of it is all on Property, provided by Madden’s.

I am looking for hair / makeup in the area so I don’t have to pay for travel. Possbily floral up there to.

Any creative ideas for the welcome bags? I am thinking little wild rice bags with recipe cards since they won’t spoil through travel.

Thanks ladies!
