I had the Mirena IUD for just over two years, and didn’t have my period for pretty much the entire time it was in!  Had it removed in November 2010, and had some light bleeding for a couple of days right after it was removed, and then again two weeks later which I believe was my first real period after removal.

From that point onwards – my cycles have been quite regular at 28 days with ovulation around the 13th or 14th day (I’m charting on FF and using OPKs). However, my periods have been short with only one day of full flow, and a couple days of light flow/spotting.  Not sure if it’s a side effect of the IUD, or just that I’m getting older Wink

We’re on our 5th cycle of TTC and no pregnancy yet.  I just started the TWW (two week wait) so we’ll see if this is our month.

Of course, this is just my personal experience.  My GP said it could take 3-6 months for my cycle to regulate, and to come back and see him if things hadn’t returned to normal within 6 months.

If I’m not pregnant by May, I’ll be heading back in for a follow-up as I’m a bit older (36) and don’t want to wait too long!

Good Luck with your TTC journey!
