Just wanted to share my story as I researched many other threads on WB regarding this. I’ve read that resumption of normal cycles varies for each woman. I had my Mirena removed two days ago after having it in for 4 years. I never had any major complications while on Mirena. I would have some ovarian cysts which I have been prone to developing since I was in my teens, but usually they would come and go. Otherwise no periods, just occasional spotting. I have been on some form of hormonal birth control (pill, patch, ring, depo, mirena) for approx 11 years. Currently DH are planning on TTC in the fall of 2015 and NTNP starting May 2015. I wanted to have the Mirena out earlier to regulate my cycles. So anyways, I am currently charting and practicing FAM w/ barrier during fertile window. Heres to waiting for my first period (which I never thought I would be so excited for after 5+ years of no period!)

I need to keep up with this, I’m thinking of getting my Mirena removed as well.

Mine came out in July of 2012, I had super light periods every 28 days for August and September, and then a regular period, positive ovulation test, and a pregnancy at the end of October! I had been on mirena for 9 years, depo prior to that, with no periods the entire time!

I had mirena out in March after having it for over 4 years. I never had a period with it in.
First period came in June and none have been normal since. So, I’m 8 months post-mirena now with periods of only spotting for a day or one that right now that is 8 days late. Hope you have better luck!

I’m really hoping everything starts back up normally – it’s a weird feeling having no idea what your body is going to do without the influence of hormones. Attached is my chart so far. Had a lot of symptoms signaling ovulation (I also think I ovulated while on Mirena) so here’s to hoping the temps stay high and a period occurs in the next couple weeks! of

I had a Skyla IUD (Mirena makes it) and I’ve had 4 periods since I got it removed. The first cycle after removal was 26 days, then 30, then 28, then 31. The first period was pretty light. 3 days of not very much bleeding. But after that, they’ve gotten progressively heavier. Before Skyla, I had very heavy 7 day periods. Now they are 4 days and only heavy for 1 or 2 of those days. I’ll take it! We’ve been trying to conceive since the very day I got the IUD removed. Good luck to you OP!

for anyone interested this is the completed chart since IUd was removed. Granted I started charting the day I got it out so it is probably a bit skewed. I had a very light period 16 days after having it out and it only lasted 3 days.
