I am so sorry you are going through this *Hugs*
I had a D&C on March 4th of this year. It was painless and I went home that day and felt fine. I had a tiny bit of pink spotting for 1 day and that was it. I chose the D&C because I did not want to lengthen the wait, I wanted to go back to normal and get back to TTC as soon as possible.
Also, they say you are more fertile after a D&C for 2-3 months. It may be true b/c in early May I got my BFP.
Good luck! 🙂

@hotpinkbride: I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I found out I had a missed miscarriage at 9w, and I opted for medication. I had to do two rounds of misoprostol, the whole process took about 2 weeks? After that, I had 2 periods right on schedule and got a BFP our first month back TTC. The misoprostol option was best for me because it was not surgical. I did end up in the ER with severe bleeding–I just didn’t realize how much there would be, but ultimately everything was fine.
Best of luck to you. May I ask, did you see a heartbeat when you had the ultrasound measuring 5w5d?

I’m so sorry this is happening to you 🙁
I had a similar situation, on May 9th we found out the baby had stopped developing a few weeks prior, I was supposed to be almost 12 weeks and we had seen the heartbeat at an earlier appointment.
My doctor recommended a medically induced miscarriage, which I did. It was a long, painful, horrible night. I thought it was over, then after a couple of weeks I just started bleeding again. I bled for weeks and ended up needing a d&c on July 2nd. If I had to do it again, I would go straight for the d&c.
Best of luck to you, you are not alone. <3

Thank you so much.
Thank you so much. Thanks for sharing your experience and I am so sorry you experienced the same loss.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I followed your story at the time and was very excited to learn when you got your BFP again. Many blessings to you and your baby and I hope to have the same good luck in the futue.
Thank you. We did not see a hearbeat at the ultrasound where I measured 5 weeks and days. Last Friday they did an ultrasound where I measure 6 weeks 1 day (which approx. 1 and half weeks after the 5 w, 5 d) and they thought they saw a faint heartbeat, but not sure. Today, there was definitely no heartbeat and no growth.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am so sorry you had to go through this pain as well.
Not sure what I am going to do for the rest of the night. I may not check in for a while as I would like to fall asleep and not feel the pain. However, I wish anyone that provides kind words or shares experiences a HUGE thank you and I will wish everyone an individual thanks when I sign back on as I appreciate you taking the time to respond on such a sensitive thread. Thank you bees for being here for me in my time of need!

I am so very sorry for your loss.
I have not had to make a decision about how to induce miscarriage but I have had to have a D&C for other GYN reasons. I was terrified it was going to be super painful but it ended up being not nearly as painful as I expected. My OB/GYN gave me Tramadol and I had some pain with the cramping. I felt a bit better the next day but still crampy but didn’t need the Tramadol.
I hope you get some sleep tonight. Lean on your husband. Thoughts and prayers for whatever you decide.

@hotpinkbride: Sorry to hear this, hug. I’ve not been in this position so can’t offer advice. I agree with what @Jennifferq:
said and thought the comments were so sweet and full of hope.

Just wanted to thank everyone again on this thread for sharing your support, condolences, and experiences. I tried to thank everyone individually and hope I did not miss anyone.
To update you all, I opted to take the medicine (Cytotec/Misoprostol). The doctor wanted me to wait until today to start it as more medical care would have been available if I had any issues, but I could not just fathom waiting for two days and still having to go through it. I started the medication Saturday morning. The bleeding started about 2 hours later and the cramping almost immediately. Thank god for the hydrocodone because the pain felt comparable to the worst period of my life on the pain pill, can’t imagine what it would have felt like without it. I am continuing to cramp and bleed through today although it has slowed down somewhat. To top everything off, my grandfather passed away on Saturday night. He lived in another state and I can’t travel for the funeral in this condition, so I have been very upset about that. Hopefully the pain of all of this will pass soon.
