I think if you do the same color and fabric it will still look good.

I think it will look great. I can’t imagine anyone thinking your choice was an accident.

This pic is an offbeat bride but there are only two bridesmaids and they do have different dresses.

this one looks like it might be a mom with her daughters

not a great pic but they are different dresses

again, same color different style

I am doing that for my wedding, and when I was in my sister’s wedding that’s what she did.  Two bridesmaids, different dresses.  I think if you keep the fabric, color, and accessories consistent it won’t look like a mistake.  I don’t have any digital photos from my sister’s wedding, but we looked fairly uniform, despite the variation in tops and skirt styles.

I think it works. You can also have them pick a different style in the same color so it does match. J.Crew has great options or even David’s Bridal has the same color family in different syles.

I only have 2 bridesmaids, too, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to have them in same/similar dresses, different colors (light blue and green). I’m not too worried about it looking “sloppy.” I think that as long as there’s a common theme of some sort tying the two together, no one will think much of it.

I agree with keeping the fabric and possibly designer the same.  3 girls up there(including you) in three different fabrics can be distracting.

My sisters both had 2 BMs, but we wore the same dress.

I was in the same situation.  I found two dresses that were similar but different and it ended up working out great.  Each fit each girl’s individual personality but were still similar enough that it looked coordinated.  I only have a few pics back so far but here is a teaser pic that kind of shows what I’m talking about… they both had some sort of gold with black lace overlay and then also a solid black element to them.

(Sorry for the giant pic, I don’t know how to re-size!)
