Mine are all wearing the same length, fabric and color, but picking the syle that suits them best.  The guys are all in matching suits and ties.  We were orginally going to put them in matching suits with mis-matched but coordinating ties (same color different patterns) but then I found a tie that I fell in love with and just got it for all of them.

I wanted my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses to flatter them individually. So, I told them the brand, color, length and fabric that I wanted and let them pick. I went with AA, Mediterranean Blue, long and in chiffon

My Maid/Matron of Honor (sister) is where this one:

And my Bridesmaid or Best Man (FSIL) is wearing this one:

I too wanted the BM’s dresses to be flattering to each girl so I picked the brand, length and color and they chose the style from about 8 options. It looked amazing. They all looked beautiful. And then we had all the groomsmen in matching tuxes.

Well originally I was ok with picking same length/fabric/colour from one designer and having the girls all choose the style the liked best. However, I was out voted by the bridesmaids and they decided they all wanted to wear the same dress (I really did want them to wear the same dress but didnt want to force it on everyone) so it was a win-win situation ๐Ÿ™‚

Hayls:  I hate the look of matching bridesmaids dresses. I’ve never liked the idea of them and as I started planning, I’m just completely against having matching bridesmaids dresses in my wedding. Instead, I’ve given my girls a color scheme and let them go at it. They are free to pick any dress in that color scheme: any fabric, any sleeve, etc. The only thing I asked was that it be knee length (but this is negotiable) and if it has any patterns that they snap a pic and show me first. Besides that, I’m just letting them do it. A bridesmaid has already purchased her dress (on clearance) for $11! That really beats spending $200 on a dress you will NEVER wear again.

I think the key is to set ground rules from the jump. If you want all purple, but hate lilac, make sure you eliminate that immediately. Provide examples. Offer to go with each bridesmaid to pick it out. Start a Facebook group and have the girls post a picture of their dresses as they buy them as a guide.

For my groomsmen we are going to do brown/tan pants, a white button down shirt, vest or suspenders, and mismatched bowties. Fiance and I will be going on the hunt this winter to see what’s out there, but otherwise we are doing the same thing as with the bridesmaids: Fiance is starting a Facebook group and his groomsmen are posting there as they purchase their pieces. We are offering to go with them and pay if they like.

So far everyone is relieved and excited about it. Wedding is still a bit aways, so everyone has plenty of time to start freaking out ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hayls:  Neither; I hate the clone look but I’m having a hard time letting go completely to say they can pick a dress in a specific fabric color.

So I believe what I am going to do is say one dress but acessorize however they would like. I’m thinking statment jewlery, a belt if they’d like and of course whatever shoes they’d like!

I’m probably going to let them pick their necklines, but have the same color and fabric. All of my girls have very different body types and I want them to be comfortable. I love strapless dresses, but 2 of my four have very large chests and would be hiking them up all night. I don’t know. I say this now, but I might do all matching.

All my girls are wearing light pink knee-length dresses.  I didn’t want a matchy wedding party, or to make them pay $$$ for a dress they’ll likely never wear again.  So far no one has picked the same dress or dress style.  Can’t wait to see them all together on my wedding day!

Hayls:  Thanks for the suggestion but I’m just not a fan of the wrap dress at all.

I have one and on of my MOH’s is wearing one in a wedding this october. I just don’t think that much side boob should ever be showing lol and as a plus size myself I have yet to find a way that I’m comofrtable with or without a bandu underneath.
