has anyone here done mismatched groomsmen suits? My bridesmaids all have mismatched dresses in shades of blue and grey, intentionally. We want to do all grey suits but we’re worried about the finances of some of the groomsmen. Has anyone let their groomsmen wear their own suits? How did it end up looking? I’m not opposed to it I just can’t picture how it will end up. Thanks!!

Yeah we did. We just told them to wear whatever navy or gray suit they had. It was fine! Darling Husband bought them all the same silverish ties and they had the boutonnieres so that helped tie them together. We also did mismatched bridesmaids dresses.

ktrv927 : The best man, groomsman, and usher for our wedding all own tuxes. They don’t match, but they are all tuxes, so Fiance decided we might as well have the groomsmen wear tuxes.
I think that mismatched grey suits will look great with the mismatched Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. Maybe have them wear a blue tie to bring it all together.

Ours wore their own (we gave cash to cover a rental.and they could either rent or out it towards buying one) and then we provided matching ties. I thought it worked well, and looked much better than them in matching, ill-fitting rentals.

I did (blue) and it looked awesome. I bought them all similar but not matching ties, which pulled the look together.

ktrv927 : hey, I did basically exactly this. Shades of blue/grey dresses and told groomsmen they could wear whatever grey suit they wanted. I think 3 bought a suit and one rented. We got them matching ties to put it together.

The wedding party all used to wear mismatched clothes because they wore somthing they already owned. It wasn’t until magazines, then social media that brides decided that everyone need to look alike.

Our groomsmen wore different shades of grey, suits they already owned, they showed me and my hubby what options they had and they let me pick lol. We bought them all the same dressshirt and different ties in the same colour family (my girls were mismatched dresses too).
Everyone looked amazing, we’re coordinated without being too matchy matchy (not that matching is a bad thing I just never wanted a bridal party all dressed alike) were all happy and comfortable in what they had all picked which is was most important for me, that they’d all just be happy and comfy and have fun!
