So I’ve been on the pill for almost 5 years now and have never had problems remembering to take it…
I’d been telling my husband for the past few days that I’ve been feeling nauseaus a lot at night this week and then yesterday I started spotting and it got much heavier today. I checked my pill pack and I missed one! Not sure when it was I think it was def a few days ago though.
I’m a little nervous because even though we are married we do not feel ready to have a baby just yet. We had intercourse on Sunday and I am currently on day 13 of my BC pack. I took the pill that I missed along with today’s dose today. Is there a good chance I could get pregnant? I spoke with the nurse at my gyno’s office and all she really said was take a test if I miss my period.
Any help would be appreciated!

I would say that because it was just one pill, probably not. I mean you just never know, but I have done the same thing in the past and have been fine. It will mostly be a waiting game though. Just don’t stress out too much, because that can make your body do weird things all on it’s own.

From what my doctor has told me, if you miss one pill it isn’t a disaster, but if you miss more than one in a month or more than two in three months, you might have trouble. On top of that, even after skipping a single pill you likely won’t ovulate right away (it takes a month or two for most people). When I skipped a pill the day before once (a long time ago) my dr said to just take two at once and I’d be fine. And I was!
All that being said, if you are really nervous I’d talk to a doctor in person, and in the meantime use a second method of birth control. I think my dr once told me that even missing one pill it was still extremely effective, so I wouldn’t be worried. On top of that, you can’t get pregnant unless you are ovulating, and I doubt that one day of lower hormone levels would allow you to ovulate.
