Help! Kinda worried here. I’m on birth control (Loestrin 24) and this month I had 2 days where I took the pill late, but didn’t miss 24 hours (they were not 2 consecutive days). My period was supposed to come 3 days ago and it hasn’t come.
I took 2 pregnancy tests- one yesterday and one today. Both were negative. I’m not sure if I had the correct amount of urine but either way it was pretty close. I have no pregnancy symptoms either.
My period on BCP is really light and sometimes is just ONE day of minor spotting. I did spot 2 days before my period was supposed to come, so was THAT my period? I just hope I don’t have cancer or liver disease or something serious. I’m young so definitely not menopause- but I’m also worried it’s freakishly early menopause.

Stop thinking about cancer or liver disease, that’s just nonsense. You are fine.
Now…it is possible that you are pregnant. Can you call your dr. and get blood taken to find out?

@Birdee106: I can, but I’m going to have to wait until after this weekend because I’m going out of town. Is there any easier way to find out? Most doctors around here will have to force you to go to a lab and it’s a real pain in the but.

@anon00: There is no sure way of knowing without a positive pregnancy test. I say just relax until you know for sure that you aren’t pregnant. Keep testing every morning, first morning urine, for a couple of more days.

This happened to me recently when I messed up with a couple of my pills. All was set right again by the next period, so I wouldn’t worry! I took like 3 pregnancy tests when it happened too haha!

Sometimes stress can cause you to be late, try to relax.

Relax, stress can cause your period to delay also. In fact there are several reasons your period could be late. Diet, exercise, illness, stress, medications. I say give it another few days to a week, if still nothing THEN call your doctor in a panick. Until then just enjoy no Aunt Flow 🙂

Are you drinking water/staying hydrated? Mine will disappear if I’m not drinking enough water. After about half a liter or so, it’ll kick in.

Whoooa relax! There are many factors that can contribute to your period being slightly off…
First off, it has only been 3 days; I don’t think you need to freak out just yet. Since you already taken the urine tests and it appears negative, take a breather… Nothing to worry about just yet even though there is still a chance that it’s in an early stage (less than a week?) and the test may not detect that hormone yet…
Let’s go through other probable causes:
Stress is one of the most common cause for a delayed period… Have you been stressing out about work/school/relationship/wedding planning? If so, being stressed out about possibly being pregnant would not help :D… Try to relax, drink some water, go out for a walk…
Have you been having drastic weight gain or weight loss… Some times that would throw your body off and confuse your hormone… Reverse back to some healthy dieting habit and it should help.
What about change in schedule/habit/medication?
Of course don’t completely rule out possible pregnancy or infection yet but I would examine the above causes first, then wait it out for another week or two before freaking out… Chances are your body would just like some attention and cause a fuss once in a while.
Hope it helps.

@Steqpham: I do weightlift so it could be due to exercise, althuogh my body fat is within a very healthy range so I don’t think it’s that…I have been stressed but no more than usual. I do know that sometimes when I don’t take my pill perfectly, my period is “off” a little, and it has completely skipped before for that reason.

I’m “I dont even know how late because it’s that late” due to stress with our wedding only being 3 weeks away!

Negative home pregnancy tests are pretty accurate, especially if you’ve gotten the same clear result on a couple of them.
Stress could be one factor. Your messed up pills could be another. There are other, but still non-serious, possibilities, including a cyst (I skipped a period once, and that was why). Honestly, just take the blood test when you can and don’t freak out. If it makes you feel better, take another stick test over the weekend. But honestly, try to relax.
