I just got married about two weeks ago, and it was great! My Father-In-Law invited a few of his lawyer and doctor friends to our wedding, and they all gave us gifts except one. I thought this was strange, because I know what a nice guy he is, so I asked Father-In-Law about it. He got in touch with his friend, and his friend told him that he brought a Bed, Bath and Beyond gift bag with a couple of expensive items in it. I got several BBB gift bags that day, but I don’t remember getting one from him. I also checked my registry online, and everything is accounted for except for one small item. I have no idea what gifts he is referring to. The only thing I can think of is the bag got lost, stolen, or he forgot to bring it to the reception.
I asked Father-In-Law what we should do, and he said I should write him a thank you note based on his description of the items and call it a day. I don’t want him to keep questioning his friend, but I feel weird thanking the friend for gifts I didn’t receive. What do you think I should do in this situation?
