I MISS MY FURBABY! I moved about 2 hours away from SO and our pup and I’m going crazy without seeing him (the dog…the boy too but the dog more) everyday. SO said that the first day I was gone Frankie was walking around whining and looking everywhere for me. Whenever I talk to SO on the phone, Frankie starts looking for me, and SO says he has just generally been sad.
Am I a bad fur-mommy for leaving him? I am going to see him at least twice a month, hopefully more.
I am worried that he will think I am abandoning him or that he will forget me (he’s only 4.5 months)!
Has anyone ever had a long-distance fur baby? How long did it last? How long did you go without seeing your little fur-love? Did your pup get used to only seeing you so often?

When our dog was 6 months old, my fiance was gone for three months – and our dog looked for him for a few days. Then, he sort of got used to it. However, the first time he saw him when he got back, he was over the moon and so happy – Totally remembered him!
I can’t imagine being away for more than a week. We are bad though – we miss our dog even on vacations. 🙂

I had left my dog for three months for a summer internship years ago. He sniffed my car (I flew out by plane) daily and lay at the door waiting for me for 3 months. That being said, my dog is psycho and has terrible separation anxiety. But he remembered me when I came back and he still knew that I was his owner, not my parents (who I left the dog with).
How long will you be at this new job?

@MissBuffalo: Hopefully I will have this job forever. It’s literally my dream job that I’ve wanted for about 8 years but we are planning on moving somewhere in between next year.

You are not a bad fur-mommy! Yes he will miss you lots but you aren’t leaving him forever. Just think about how happy he will be when he gets to see you 😀
