I am getting married on August 29th… I have a Maid/Matron of Honor (my sister) and a Bridesmaid or Best Man (groom’s sister). With a few months until the wedding, topics have come up, "bridal shower", "bachelorette party, "bridal luncheon"… Immediately I think, I am going to miss out on all of this. With having the small bridal party, I feel like it’s a lot different in how things "should" be. Will my Maid/Matron of Honor, my sister through me a bridal shower? Probably not, especially since she’s across the country. Will either of them think of a bachelorette party, probably not… I have always been okay with having a few girlfriends, none very close, but now that I’m getting married, I feel like I’m missing out on what many brides have. I know it’s not so important, but it does make me sad thinking about it…

You say that you have never had many close girlfriends… so are you used to girly get togethers? If not, then you may not be missing that much. You could always do a coed wedding shower and jack and jill party INSTEAD of a bachelorette party.. so that you arent missing out. Or if you can afford it, maybe you could take a trip to visit your sisters city in lieu of a party.. just some girl time together at the spa maybe??

I think having a smaller wedding party like yours is a lovely way to keep an intimate group around you. Keep in mind that it’s quality not quantity especially when we are talking about people who love you. I bet they are thrilled to be a part of your special day and will do you proud in all things wedding related!

Will anyone else be thinking about throwing you a shower? Say one of your mom’s girlfriends? How about a family shower? Something that you would enjoy.
As far as a bachelorette party, you could think about having this the weekend of your wedding. That way your sister and Future Sister-In-Law will be around. You could do something fun like lunch at a chic place with champaign followed by some spa time. Like the other girls have said, something intimate that you enjoy! You won’t feel like you are missing out on anything!
