It’s been a week since our RSVPs were due and I am still really irritated, so I thought a little rant might help.
For our friends and relatives on my side, we got a really good response. My parents had to call a handful of people, but I was really pleased with how many RSVPs we got.
Then there is my fiance’s family, completely different story. His dad’s side did pretty well, but his mom’s side…not one single RSVP came in. Even the handful of people she assures me are coming didn’t bother. We provided SASEs, so it would really not be hard. What gives?
There’s no family rift or anything. My Mother-In-Law says “that’s just how they are.” Well, then I guess how they are is “really rude.” I have met all these people, some several times, when I visit my fiance’s hometown. I’m irritated that nobody responded and that so few of them are coming. I will have four times as many relatives in attendance as he does, and my family lives farther away!
So two problems: (1) My own irritation, which I am trying to vent away here. 🙂 (2) How do I help my fiance feel better about the fact that his family doesn’t care? He is being a typical dude and stoic about it, but I know he is hurt.
If you’ve dealt with something similar, any thoughts?
