If you only miss one pill in a pack, you are completely protected.  If you miss more than that, you might not be protected until you have an entire package of pills uninterrupted.  If you can’t remember the pill, you might want to consider the ring or the shot.

I have an alarm set on my phone, too. It helps a lot!

If it helps any, I was the same way. I had the patch before the pill and wasn’t used to taking a pill every day. My Maid/Matron of Honor gave me the best tip – keep it with your toothbrush. You’ll always brush your teeth in the morning (or before bed) and since it’s already part of your routine you can keep the pack right there & take the pill while you’re at the sink.

I take mine in the morning and if I wake up late on the weekends – ehh, it’s still all good.

I’m the same way, I’ve been on the pill for over 10 years, rarely missed a pill. Now I seem to forget once a month! I usually remember by the evening, but still…

I used to remind myself on my phone but sometimes it didnt work because I would be in a meeting etc.

So what I do that is VERY effective is I put my pill pack in my makeup drawer. I do my makeup every day so right before I do my makeup I just pop the pill ๐Ÿ™‚

Just curious – are you on the combined pill?  I’m on the mini pill (no estrogen) and the rules for that one are more strigent.  If you’re late 3 hours with one pill, it counts as missed and you should use back-up for the next 48 hours.  I’m super paranoid, so I take mine every day at 11AM and carry that day’s pill with me in my bag (in an extra contact case!) so I have it wherever I am at 11AM each day.  ๐Ÿ™‚

This happened to me a lot when I was on the pill – and then I would get so nervous whenever the Mr. wanted to *get busy*….. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, i switched to the Ring.  It’s great!  You set it and forget it  – for the month!  It’s very low maintenance and I know it’s more effective because there is no user error!

@fancygirl: Yes, combined pills have longer periods of time that they are effective than the mini pill.  I think because the mini pill has fewer hormones.

Oh you should be OK then – I believe that’s a combo pill so not as strict with the time frame and you’re using back up anyway.  ๐Ÿ™‚
