- Wedding: August 2013
Two weeks ago, I announced my engagement on the waiting board, where I have been an active poster. However, I neglected to continue to spread the news about my engagement by posting my proposal on this board. With time to spare, I figured it would be a good time to do so.
I knew a proposal was coming, I even guessed that it would be sometime that day, due to the time crunch we were in regarding a cross-country move. However, I was so stressed out about all that needed to get done, that I, for all intents and purposes, stopped caring about a proposal, and it was one of the last things on my mind. The day was mundane, the house was covered in boxes, and after what felt like an eternity of sitting around and stressing out, I decided to go get a hair cut, which despite my request to turn my already medium length haircut with long layers, into a bob of the same length, ended up taking 1.5 hours to complete. I was talking marriage and engagement to my hair dresser, and I was pretty exhausted from the whole day. All I wanted to do was get home and watch the football game. I contemplated calling my SO to tell him I was on the way, but decided against it.
When I walked in the door, I heard the faint murmur of the Giants game in the background, but only saw two things: my SO sitting at the dining room table, and a black ring box sitting on the couch. I was a mixture of flustered and happy, but flustered won over, so while I crying, I walked into the kitchen to put down my keys. I stood there looking at my SO, crying and bewildered, and he motioned for me to open the box. In it, was a note that said “Let’s play a game,” with instructions to find more clues around the house, which would lead me to my prize.
He trolled me with every clue, writing things like “Haha, this must be getting annoying,” and “Nada. There’s nothing here for you.” while instructing me to find more clues. I ended up searching in two closets, the washer, the master bedroom, and a bathroom for clues. The bathroom clue said that I would find what I desired under the mattress in our bedroom, and so I bolted from the bathroom back to the bedroom. When I got there, I swung open the door, and there was my SO on one knee, and he asked me to marry him.
It has been two weeks since then, and I am still over the moon about being his fiancé. It was the greatest moment of my life to date, and I had so much fun.
