Hello Fellow Wedding Bees!
I am having mixed feelings about my dress. I purchased my dress back in march despite not trying it on because I just loved how it looked online but now I am not so sure. The pic shows the dress to be a tighter fit and more mermaid-esque but when I tried it on it looks completely different. What do you guys think? Maybe alterations would help? I attached a link to how the dress should look like for reference.

I think you look great in the dress! Once it is fitted/altered and you may have to add a mermaid crinolin/hoop/something to get the look from that model photo at the bottom.
You made the right choice ๐

Like pp said, add a mermaid slip, something like this, and it’ll look like the model

Beautiful and classy. Seamstress can fit it more to your hips of that’s the look you’re going for. But I love it the way it is Too.

What a beautiful dress! You can absolutely achieve that look with alterations. I wouldn’t be discouraged that the dress doesn’t fit you exactly how it does on the model, the dress was almost certainly altered to fit the model’s body. My dress had alterations and it was much more flattering once it was sewn to fit my body. I’m sure after your seamstress works her magic you’ll be really happy with your dress. ๐

Thanks guys! I contacted a few places for alterations that got great reviews. I’m sure this type of feeling happens to us all the time. I just felt a bit let down as to how loose the dress fit and wasn’t sure if alterations and a slip would help at all.
