I had the same issue. I wanted our bands to be a pair. I asked him to choose and this is what I ended up with.

I know it looks weird and a lot of people would think it’s ugly. But I love it.

Fiance has the reverse silver and gold compared to my ring. I totally think you can make a plain gold band work! I love having a set that is a bit different specifically to it can match your FIs.

My rings aren’t mixEd metals, but they don’t match DHs band exactly either. At first, I really wanted marching bands, but after I had my ering (he surprised me with it), his mom told us that she was giving us his late fathers wedding band to wear. He was so touched that he was set on wearing it. It’s a two toned ring and my bands are white gold.

It doesn’t match (the custom siding on my ering looks similar to the inside etching on his band though ironically), but we love it.  I’m on the road for work so I don’t have our ring shots on my phone right now or I would post a photo. A lot of couples choose mismatched rings if you don’t want to mix metals.

I usually wear an all platinum set, but I have a couple of mixed metal options for my rings, too. I wear them sometimes, if I’m in the mood for a change or a little something different. (Not as often now, though, since I got my platinum band for Christmas … just because that one feels so perfect and comfortable to me.)

I think the mixed metals look is super pretty. I like how it shows off each ring as being distinct, and I feel the different metal colors often complement each other in such a pretty way. I think it’s so neat that you want to match your DH’s band, too! I always expected that my DH and I would match, but we ended up not going that route. It was a bit disappointing at first, but it turned out for the best because DH has a habit of losing his wedding bands — ha,  ha!

Here is platinum and rose gold:

And this is my original ERing, which is yellow gold with my platinum band: (kind of a terrible pic because of the lighting, but it’s the only one I have of them together. :/)

jwaka24:  Just FYI, almost any ring that comes in white gold will come in yellow gold, you just have to ask them to order it in yellow gold. But, I just chose my wedding band today, and I’m doing the mismatched thing. Though, my SO already has a band he wants to use for his wedding band, and it doesn’t match at all (it’s black tungsten).

Holy hell that’s huge. and upside down. and my ring finger looks like it goes in a crazy direction. It doesn’t — my middle finger is just bend downward.

jwaka24:  Thanks! It is kind of fun being able to mix and match a little bit here and there.

I’ve heard that about putting platinum and gold together, too. So far, I haven’t had any problems with the metals scratching. But I don’t wear them together that often or for that long at a time, so that could be why. It’s also the reason why I decided to go a bit more “traditional” and match my metals for most of my everyday wear. (hope that makes sense — lol)

I have mixed metal rings. DH wanted our wedding bands to match. My ering is white gold and my band is titanuim. I love the look of mixed metals. 🙂
