OMGOMGOMGOMG… I am the biggest Yankees fan EVER (no seriously.. my dog’s name is Jeter).

I am on the edge of my seat right now!!!

… Fiance however, could care less about sports and doesn’t seem to understand why I’m screaming at the TV. πŸ™‚

i’m watching! cheering on the yankees!

@MsBrooklynA: why’d he go to bed? you don’t leave the game before it’s over! lol.

@TinyTina: i can relate. my guy gets excited about playoffs because it means baseball is almost over and he gets me back. lol. he’s a baseball widower. though he loses me to football but he’ll watch football so he doesn’t mind. as much.

@tea: i love that it’s your husband that is the baseball widower and not you! luckily we are both avid baseball fans. a few weeks ago at a BBQ, Future Father-In-Law turned to his friend and said “i’m really lucky, i’m going to have a daughter-in-law that actually knows what she’s talking about when we discuss sports!”

@pb and j: haha, everything i learned about sports i got from my dad. grew up watching games with him. i learned quickly that was the best way to get his attention and i developed a great love for sports because of it! though everyone thinks its hilarious that i ended up with a guy who could care less about sports. oh the irony! he so dreads it when february rolls around with spring training!

@tea: same! my older brother wasn’t really into sports and it became my “thing” with my dad….playing catch in the backyard, going to baseball games, watching football on tv. when i first moved away to college we used to watch big games sometimes “together” over the phone. my dorm cable was on a bit of a delay and he would always cheer and for 5 seconds i’d be like “what????”

when i wanted to go to school in new york my dad said “you can only go if you promise not to become a yankees fan” (we’re huge orioles fans). i adopted the mets as my NL team and thank goodness Fiance is a die hard mets fan because my dad’s first question when i said i was dating someone from new york was “is he a yankees fan? no yankees fans.”

@MsBrooklynA: ahh, well he’s definitely excused. i’m on the west coast so it’s till pretty early for me. it’s definitely getting interesting in the last couple innings!

@pb and j: haha. my dad was an oakland a’s fan and that was my favorite team until i turned 10 and switched to the yankees. for a while he wondered where he went wrong! though, the difference has lent itself to some interesting teasing when they used to meet up in the playoffs.

he would mercilessly tease me whenever my teams lost. when i was in college, he’d call whenever the football team lost. lol. he’s actually where i learned to taunt from! i remember when he came for my graduation, we took a side trip to watch the cubs at wrigley field. that was a great memory.

@tea: that is a great memory! i’d really like to go to wrigley. Fiance always goes when he is in chicago for work. two years ago for father’s day i had my dad come up to see games at the old yankee stadium and at shea before they both closed. it was such a great weekend.

@MsBrooklynA: so much for the twins’ big opportunity πŸ™

and since we’re all talking about our baseball obsessions….Fiance and i waited until the 2011 baseball schedule came out to finalize our wedding date because we really want to include an orioles game at camden yards as part of our wedding weekend. technically the schedule is still subject to change but they say the dates are most likely final. as of now, there is a 1pm game on sunday and we are going to have a farewell trip to the ballpark instead of a farewell brunch. i soooo hope it works out!
