My instinct is that it depends on how you feel about it!  Also, if your mom’s dress with a train is going to be difficult for her to walk around (would it…need a bustle?), then definitely no train.  The last thing you want is for people to be stepping on her train! So I guess my answer is a practical one.  Hope that helps!

I think that if its a formal wedding it’s ok as long as its not longer than the brides!

My mom’s dress has a train. I don’t think any of us even noticed when she tried it on initially. She just looked amazing in it and you could tell she was really happy in it. She is getting it bustled, it’s not super long, but she’ll have it down for the ceremony, and bustle it for the dancing. 🙂

Depends on how you feel about it… It’s your vision. I wouldn’t think anything of it especially if the dresses are colored and not white like a bride…

It CAN have anything you want…but do you want the train? I probably wouldn’t even notice it, but since a train is kind of bridal, I can understand you asking her to hem it.

Back a long time ago, all dresses had trains. So that’s probably why you can’t find anything on it. I imagine the question used to be whether it was appropriate to NOT have a train! haha!

Anyway, as others have said, I think it depends entirely on how the two of you feel about it. If you’re okay with it and she’s okay with it, then leave the train.  If you’re not cool with it or she’s not cool with it, then have it hemmed.
