I was browsing facebook and saw that a girl I know casually was recently Maid/Matron of Honor in a wedding. ( I do not know the bride) Being nosey and loving to look at wedding pics, I clicked on the pics. My first reaction was that the bride was certainly more mature and looked stunning in her long, white, lacey, beaded gown. Her blond hair was in an elaborate updo and she was the perfect picture of bridal elegance.
Ummmmmmm……wait…..what’s this? There is a picture of a young bride in a veil!! I was mistaken. The first woman is the MOTHER OF THE BRIDE in a wedding gown!!! Seriously. Empire waisted, gorgeous wedding gown. She outdid her daughter (in my opinion) and her dress was certainly more expensive (looking) and more elaborate than her daughters.
Both mother and bride looked gorgeous. I don’t know the bride or the situation, so it certainly is not my business. I simply found it interesting because I have never seen anything like this before and wanted to share!!!!!
Ladies, what is your view? Have you ever attended a wedding the the mob clearly had on a wedding gown?

I have not and I would say unless there was a very special reason (maybe mom and dad were renewing vows that day too, it was their anniversary or something?) it would seem very strange to me as well.

Holy schnikey. I would be so pissed if that were my mom!

Did you see a groom in the picture? Maybe it was two brides?

Wow. That’s pretty crazy. But I suppose if the bride was cool with it, who are we to judge?! I mean, she had to have known what her own mother was going to wear….
DH’s stepmother wanted to wear a white dress with beading on it to our wedding and my mom nearly killed her, LOL! We put a stop to that train of thought very quickly. She’s the type of lady who can’t stand not being the centre of attention, so I knew exactly where her intentions were coming from…

@PumpkinSpiceChai: No it wasn’t two brides. The more mature woman was clearly identified as mob and there were pics of her being escorted to her seat.

I guess the bride didnt mind. I dont care if my mom wears a white dress or a wedding gown even.. she’s my mom for crying out loud and we are not in competition

@bakerella: She had to have known….. and would have had to be cool with it.

I would just think it was weird. HOnestly, as a newly married Bee I can say for sure that there are VERY few pictures of the family we are going to have framed. Not because we don’t love our family very much, but it was OUR wedding day, so most of the pics in our album are of just the two of us. We had 50 images in our wedding album and about 5 maybe had family (other than bridal party). And we forced ourselves to include those, we didn’t even want to!

I wonder if the bride and the MOB agreed on this. I know that my mom is asking me about what she should wear, and if she ever went that direction (wearing white), I know I could tell my mom what I thought!

MOB would slightly annoy me, but MOG would make me MAD!

That is bananas, there was a post here the other day..One of the bee’s was having the same issue with her mother, i feel for her.
i would be extremely angry with my mother, selfish much?! …though i have no clue what the circustances were around this particular wedding.

I think it would be super awkward. Unless, like a previous post mentioned, they were renewing their vows or something. Pretty much a wedding gown is the only thing I don’t want people showing up in.

Dear God, no. Sounds ridiculous to me. I don’t care if they were renewing their vows, it’s not right to upstage your own daughter at her wedding. Ugh.
