By ettiquette, the MOB picks her dress and then calls the MOG and lets her choose a dress to compliment eachother.

Well, my colors are dark purple and burnt orange. My mother has chosen a wine colored dress and I’ve suggested to MOG to stick with fall colors or jewel tones.

Well they’re supposed to coordinate as far as formality.  But not necessarily colors or styles.  Complimenting each other is the key, not coordinating per se.

@tksjewelry:  That’s what our moms did, but the coordination wasn’t about color…it was more to make sure that they were a comparably formal and not accidentally in the same or nearly the same dress.

Since the coordinated, but it wasn’t about color, I didn’t know how to answer the poll.

I don’t believe it has anything to do with etiquette. It’s really more of a tradition, but many traditions have been discarded lately.

I told them to wear whatever color they wanted. And they both chose the same exact color. It was weird that they coordinated so well with no direction, and it ended up looking really good.

Our mothers have strict orders to each wear something that makes them feel beautiful.  Beyond that, I know they are hoping to coordinate with each other in terms of dress length/formality (so one doesn’t wear a formal/black tie dress and the other come in cocktail attire) but they’re not going to match.  Our wedding colors are white and silver, and my maids are in black, so I’d say they probably won’t coordinate with those! Hoping my mother chooses something light gold.

Sort of – they both knew they were wearing short dresses but they didnt really coordinate with one another. My Mother-In-Law did wait until my mom had gotten her dress to make sure that hers fit well. My mom wore a robins egg blue dress and my Mother-In-Law wore a multicolored dress. They didnt match my wedding colors but they “went” with my wedding colors.

My Mom is the one in blue

I chose other because the MOB is coordinating with the colors but the MOG is not.

I voted no, but I honestly have no clue. My mom has already found her dress I believe. His mom is too busy to even think about the wedding……… so we probably won’t know until the wedding day what she’s wearing. I’m ok with that because they can wear whatever they want! Less for me to deal with 🙂
