I really don’t understand what you’re describing becasue I’m illiterate at music but I would suggest Pandora. What we did was find one song who’s “feel” we really loved. Then we made a station with it on Pandora and listened for a while.

Our song was “Vienna” by Billy Joel and lots of music by Elton John, the Beatles, Jack Johnson, etc. came up. It was all pretty perfect and super easy.

Let me recommend Pandora as well. That is how I’ve been building my play list.

To start, you just create an acount inspired by an artist or song you like, and then you approve or disapprove of songs based on your taste.

I would also suggest that you look into RJD2 as a possibility.

@monitajb:

I love RJD2, and this is the FIRST time on an online forum (other than musically leant ones) that I have seen anyone else mention this band.

To the OP, if you have any ‘music junkies’ as friends, borrow their computers/music collections and find things that resonate with you or simply ask them for some suggestions. You might be surprised!

Check out Brian Eno.  He even has an album called “Ambient 1: Music for Airports” 🙂
