I love all things modern and my fav type of photography is photojournalistic.. rather than having poses I like the photog to take pics throughout and capture real moments and situations. I also tend to look better when I am caught off guard lol..

I’m sure you can find a lot of examples on the web and from other bees. But, you should realize that even if you show him examples, you can’t expect a photographer to change their style overnight. If his style is a big problem for you, then see if there is anyway you can substitute a different photographer.

@msfahrenheit: you hit the nail on the head – it’s not fair or realistic to expect this photographer to mold his or her style for you.  This is the major downside to cutting costs by going with inclusive packages.  Remember that the only thing left over from your wedding day are photos and video (if you had video).  It’s the one area that you want to make absolutely sure your photographer is a great fit for you.

@cstarkwe: Wow.  Okay, you are definitely entitled to your opinion.  I would say that meeting with someone to talk about what they want captured is different than asking someone to change their editing style.  Threads are meant to be discussions though, I wouldn’t get bent out of shape because people are offering opinions!  All that we were getting at is there are so many styles of photography out there, it’s easier to find a photographer who is already shooting in a style you like rather than trying to change one whose style you don’t.  But good luck to you, I definitely hope it works out for you!

You could always start a pinterest board of ideas you have…a client of mine did that for a boudoir shoot she wanted to do and it was really helpful because I understood the kind of look she was going for (I don’t do boudoir…I did them as a favor). That being said, I gotta agree with the others who said you should definitely look for someone who shares your “vision” so to speak.

@cstarkwe: its ok. I understand how frustrating it can be to ask for X and instead get a whole lot of Zzzzz’s. You should just keep in mind that this is a pretty friendly community and people are just trying to help/prevent you from being dissapointed. I mean, the photog you got with your package could promise you the world but when the day comes…there are pretty much no do overs.

I have a very clear idea of what I want for our engagement photos and i’ve done what kate169 suggested, and created a pinterest board with all my ideas. When I met with my photographer she was thrilled when I told her about my board. Nobody wants an unhappy client, especially not a bride! 🙂 GOOD LUCK!
