We are customizing my e-ring and I am having a hard time finding a balance between modern and vintage, and between classic and having intricate details. I LOVE rings with an interesting side profile (by which I mean the top/bottom surfaces of the ring for those that have 3-sided designs) especially some milgrain and filigree/scrollwork, but I don’t want it to get too vintage-looking as that is generally not my style.
My ring will be relatively thin and delicate, and most people will probably already think it has a bit of a vintage look because it’ll be in yellow gold which looks best with my darker skin. I’m thinking of having the center diamond set somewhat low with thin tapered side baguettes accenting it, and maybe incorporating milgrain halfway around too if I can do so without having to set the baguettes into a bezel setting where I suspect they’ll look lost with all the yellow gold around it. Pave diamonds is one way of keeping the side profile looking more modern, but I’m not sure that would work if I don’t have pave on the main surface of the ring.
Anyway, I’d love to see the side profiles of your rings for ideas!! Please show me your rings!
I’d especially like to see any filigree/scrollwork/milgrain/etching designs that you don’t think make your ring look very vintage-y. A bigger plus if it’s in yellow gold, since none of the stores I’ve been to have had yellow gold rings with filigree, etching, or milgrain. Or any other ideas to add some side profile detailing 🙂 Thank you, bees!
