@schmeebee85:  Hi, sorry that happened to you. If no one flags the post, then sometimes mods won’t see it. I’m not sure why it was deleted, but it seems like posts are getting eaten by the website…

@DrAtkins:  I appreciate the response. If someone DOES flag the post, would I be notified before the comment is deleted? That would give me a chance to edit. It just seems fishy. Not accusing you, just confused. Like I said earlier, I’ve only personally seen this happen on posts that garner a general consensus of tough love or calling the OP out on an issue a lot of people are seeing. It’s just kinda convenient that THOSE posts just randomly disappear.

@cmsgirl:  I agree completely. It’s the boards that come up in searches, and attract people to the site. Every single thing that management is doing is counter productive, and will only hurt them in the long run. And I’m sure that a lot of people come to the boards without registering as a poster, so I dont think the informal poll taken a few weeks ago has much bearing on anything. But making it impossible to see parts of the board without registering combined with the glitchy coding we know so well is going to turn potential users of the site off. If they can’t even run a forum, why should their advice be taken regarding weddings. And the poorly written articles seal the deal; this is not a website to be taken seriously, it’s woefully amateurish.

I can’t post anything with more than one photo.  It acts like it’s trying to post and then just doesn’t appear. If I’m trying to post pictures of my rings in different lighting for an OP, I don’t want to have to serial post to get the job done.

It looks like there are some major “server issues” or whatever going on.

Yeah, it’s not a glitch. Someone deleted my post and my follow up to someone elses post. It looked like several other replies were deleted as well. A thread went from 3 pages to just over 1, and some how, the replies defending the poster (and use of the R word) were left up??? Yeah, but just a glitch.

Hi All,

I’m looking into all the reported issues now. If you have any questions about thread no longer showing, please let me know to the best of your memory what the thread title was and I’ll look into it.

Thanks,

Tyson

@skuzzlebutt:  That wasn’t a glitch.  I removed OP’s reference which got everyone so offended.  I therefore then removed references to that as to not continue the offense. (which were attacking op on a personal level)  to get the main topic back on track.

@ibtyen:  Ah, okay, so posts ARE being deleted without notes or warnings, got it.

@ibtyen:  Interesting, I just reviewed the thread and see plenty of references to that slur. But honestly, a post saying “The slur has been removed, along with posts referencing it to keep the thread on track” would have been hugely helpful! Deleting with no note or anything is very confusing. Trying to blame it on a site glitch is also very weird…

@skuzzlebutt:  I will do that in the future.  My apologies.  The only threads left in that post say “r-Word” and have post contents that actually address ops issue and don’t contain personal attacks.

@ibtyen:  A few glitches I’ve noticed

  • Comments sometimes don’t post if a link is included or multiple pictures.
  • When logging in via mobile, the page will shift downward randomly, so users accidentally click on the link to the home page.

The lack of transparency and clear guidelines has spawned alot of frustration. Threads are being closed or deleted and users don’t know whether mods have closed (and why), whether it was closed by the OP, or whether it was a glitch. Posts are moderated or deleted seemingly capriciously.

@ibtyen:  My post on that thread was also deleted. My offense at her use of the R word was only a small portion of my post, basically “You lost me at the use of ‘r'” and then continued into constructive advice. No personal attack. More strongly worded posts were left up. No explanation, just deleted. Why would anyone bother to spend the time to read through pages of posts and respond if their efforts are randomly deleted? I’ve observed a lot of regulars missing for some time and a considerable drop-off in general posts and participation.

I’ve been on this site for years now and it just seems to be plummeting lately. What’s the goal?

@schmeebee85:  in theory, yes. You should receive a PM from the mods regarding why your comment was moderated or deleted. Mods are generally supposed to provide feedback so that the users know what part of the TOS was violated.

The topic ‘@MODS… Why are posts getting deleted on threads?’ is closed to new replies.
