So a little background…. I was asked to be Maid/Matron of Honor for a friends wedding. I met this friend back in August when we started going to school together. When I was asked to be her Maid/Matron of Honor, I was a little caught off gaurd because I knew she had sisters, a large family, etc. (basically others who I felt would have been the more appropriate choice for a Maid/Matron of Honor, instead of someone she had only known for a matter of months), but was told by the bride that “i’m not super close with any of them”. We had become very close since we met, but I didn’t think we had known each other long enough for me to be a part of her wedding, let alone her Maid/Matron of Honor. I just chalked it up to the fact that not all families/relationships are like the ones I have, and that if this is what she feels is right, then who am I to tell her no? So anyways, I agreed and the wedding plans started.
Besides from the anxiety of thinking this was totally weird, I wasn’t having a problem with the situation until I started thinking about the Maid/Matron of Honor speech that I am supposed to give at the reception. I’m completely lost. I do not have a life long relationship with the bride.. I don’t have funny stories to share.. I don’t even know much about the groom, only having met him once!! I just feel that this is going to be a complete disaster!!
Any suggestions out there? Cute poems that I can incorporate? ANYTHING will be appreciated!
PS the wedding is next weekend!! TIME CRUNCH!!
