@shhhh-lady:  I got it from Moissyco and they were pretty good, I had tons of questions becaue he was worried about makinng such a big purchase online. I would recomend you get online  and you can live chat with someone there!

I don’t pass it off as a diamond to my friends and family, I told them all about how cool this stone is! People that know my Fiance and I well were not supprized that we would end up with something ethicallly sourced, and so they all thought it was a very cool idea.I don’t think anyone I know  knows about moissanite either. But I do get lots of compliments from my clients and general public, and I find it tiresome to be explaining moissy all day,  and so now I just say “THANKS!” and when they ask the CT size I just say “thanks, it’s a1.3 ct”  but I nerver utter the word diamond. I know that fact might be controversial, but I’m lazy, so…

@BotticelliLove:  I agree that it can be moody, but that’s why I love it, simply beautiful . Your ring is amazing.

@nambi_pambi:  I think myself personally I would love the “moody” character of the moissanite stone, and I love colors and sparkle, so that all sounds good.  I have been online chatting with moissaniteco and even had some emails, they’re very nice, and for the most part answered my questions, but I feel like they’re very busy and don’t have time to answer my questions in the detail I was hoping for.  (Not that I’ve had a bad experience,  and I have nothing bad to say about them…I’m just not getting that warm cushy feeling that’s persuading me to make the purchase through them, but this could change).

I have been looking at Joseph Schubach jewelers, and I’m getting a good feeling from them (yet I haven’t talked to anyone there yet).  Has anyone purchased a FB moissanite from Joseph Schubach with anything they could tell me about them?

I do plan on telling close family and friends, but I won’t be outwardly telling other people when they compliment me that it’s not a diamond, like you say I’ll just be saying “Thanks!” ๐Ÿ™‚ can’t wait lol.  The way I’m hoping to pass it off is that people will look at it and say “wow beautiful ring” and won’t even think to ask if it’s a diamond or not, and if they do I’d tell them about the moissanite, but I’m hoping that it doesn’t attract “not diamond” attention is all I guess. I’m hoping that it will look “diamondy enough” that people won’t be asking.  I myself am completely comfortable and happy with the fact that it’s a man made gem and hopefully I can appreciate the features of the gem itself.  I’m not a diamond fanatic, nor can I justify my boyfriend spending thousands of dollars on a ring, money that we could put towards our house and wedding…and wear a lot of cheap dollar store jewelry, and have never owned a piece of jewelry that costed more than $20 so I’m sure the moissanite will surpass my expectations.

Here’s my 2.2 car. cushion center with Forever Brillant added from moissaniteco.com.

First off, if you are a girl who wants a diamond badly but can’t afford it and you want a diamond subsitute…let me tell you, this is not the gem for you. It is a gem…you have to start thinking of your ring like that. Yes, it catches color around you, yes it looks yellow when you are in direct or natural lighting. Yes, sometimes the center looks dark. Yes, sometimes it gets a film on the top (like all natural gemstones can) I don’t know what others mean by not having a bit of a cloud to it, it’s just like any other stone, brillant yes, but it can get filmy. Now with that warning…let me tell you what I love my ring.

My fiance was paitent with me and let me pick out my own ring (in the end, I gave him three sets I liked and he got to choose) and I did research out my ass over my ring. Did I want a diamond? This is my SECOND wedding ring and marriage and when I went to sell my first diamond set that my husband spent hours tireleslly working for and I got a whopping hard dose of cold truth when the jewler quoted me 150 dollars for my prized posession. Ladies, the diamond only means something TO YOU and to your spouse or inheritants. No one outside of this is going to care that you have a diamond as big as a house on your finger…so why should you? I have what people believe to be an 80k dollar diamond on my hand and I don’t mind letting some folks believe it. It makes me just chuckle…why does it matter if I paid 80k or 2k..people are still knocked off their feet by what’s on my hand and that’s a much better feeling than saving and pinching for a ring no one will notice.

Anyway…that’s my rant…again, ladies, train yourself to get away from thinking it’s a diamond and all your disappointments with moissanite (if any) will fade away. No one important will know the difference anyway. I’ve had one person ask me if I had a colored gemstone and she was a fellow photographer with a special eye for color. This is a GEMSTONE, not a DIAMOND, and hell, explaining that your gem was from a meteor essentially is WAY cooler than trying to explain how a small child lost his arm in a mine for your wedding ring…oh also, diamond rings aren’t ‘traditional’ wedding rings either…engagement rings are basically a 21st century thing. ๐Ÿ™‚ For all these reasons and more, this is why i chose this over a diamond, sapphire or any other bright shiny rock out there ๐Ÿ™‚

This is my moissy wedding set – the “band” portion of the ring is built in and I will turn the ring with the band inside once we are married.  I didn’t want to deal with soldering a set together after the fact, and didn’t want a wide shank for comfort reasons.  I have large hands – this is on a 9.75 finger.

This was a custom design which was hand made using “lost wax” method by an artist in Tennessee.

The center stone is a 6.5mm (1.3 ct) cushion Foreveer Brilliant moissy with 2 side stones of 3mm each.  The “band portion” of the ring is a 4mm, 2x3mm and 2×2.5mm. Total is approx 2 carats.  All stones are FB.  The only warmth I ever see is rare, and in the center stone, due to its size and fancy cut.  I don’t think the average person would notice any color – but I wear a right hand ring with a 0.75 carat VS/E stone to compare to.  ๐Ÿ™‚

I especially love the way this shines under halogen and recessed lighting!  It’s amazing!

All that and it didn’t break the bank, won’t go cloudy, and was ethically sourced!  Love.

Please excuse the large pictures! And that gross scab! We had gone hiking the day before and got scuffed up!

Anyway, I just received my 6.5mm unenhanced moissanite a day and a half ago. I love it most of the time, but the in your face rainbows that happen sometimes still need to grow on me a little more! Overall a great stone! Good luck!

@Lovewinz:  That is a seriously cool looking set.  I don’t know if steampunk was your goal, but it looks a little steampunkish to me, which is really awesome.

@Mona204:  I’m in the UK, and I’ve just bought a ring from moissanite.co.uk…this one: http://www.moissanite.co.uk/platinum/9rw0005-050.html.

It’s arriving tomorrow by special delivery, can’t wait to see it!  I was lucky enough to order it last weekend, when there was 20% off, so only cost £170 including postage!
