When they say carats, they mean you should think of it in terms of diamond carats.  If you took a 2ct. moissanite and weighed it, it would not be 2ct.  But they call it that so that people don’t get confused.

I love Moissanite and my family all have moissanite engagement rings.  They are gorgeous!  If you are looking for a great price, I just got myself a new ring at Tuesday Morning – they have a special deal where they are getting them directly from Charles and Colvard.  Check out their website.  http://www.tuesdaymorning.com and look at the moissanite rings.  I got the 9.5mm moissanite with 2.5 ct diamond for 1695.  and the moissanite is equivalant to a 3.5 ct. diamond!!  It’s really “over the top”, but I’m a little crazy, so people expect that.  They have a georgeous 1 Ct. for $499!

The Carat weigth is not the same, but is close. Most people like to know what a moissanite stone “size” is as comapred to the same Diamond carat weight.  So for instance a 6.5mm round Moissanite would be equilivent to a 1.00 carat diamond although the Moissanite would actually weigh about .87 carats. The most important thing is to understand the relative moissanite sizes vs diamond sizes.

here is a link to a helpful chart that shows the moissanite in mm size and how it relates to the same size diamond for that carat weight.

let me know if you have any questions 🙂
