Hi everyone! This is my first post!!! 😀
My SO and I have been discussing engagement rings lately. We went to Zale’s and he almost had a heart attack when he saw the price tag on one of their tiny rings. It was almost $5,000 for a wedding set that wasn’t even 1 carat! To top that off, the salesperson that was helping us asked me what I wanted. I replied that I wanted a white gold or platinum band with an emerald cut stone with a halo of stones around it and side diamonds, and that I wanted a thin band. She informed me that I didn’t want that, that I would knock the diamonds out, and that I should look for something cheaper, like a radiant stone, since the emerald ones were really expensive, or a cushion cut solitare, even though that was completely different from what I’d told her. So after she told me what I wanted (in a very snobby way), I left the store disappointed and unsure as to what I wanted.
Recently, I’ve been doing reasearch on Moissanites. I love moissaniteco’s Amora stone, and they have the PERFECT radiant cut ring in our price range, but I’m still not sure…I’ve seen videos of people who go outside and their moissanite looks gray, or smokey, and I don’t want that. I want a clear stone, something that doesn’t have color (a slight tint I can live with), that’ll look exactly like a diamond. I’ve been tossing the idea of an Amora for a while, and so far, it’s winning, but I don’t want to get the ring, take it outside, and have it look smokey. I’m not against the smokey hue of the stone when it’s in the light, I think it’s beautiful, but I’m not sure if it’s something that someone in my family will point out, and that kind of concerns me, because they might peg my SO as cheap, and I don’t want that, of course.
Can anyone help me? Do you have an Amora ring and is it smokey in the sunlight? I think that, if it comes down to it and the Amora has the smokey hue when it’s in the sunlight, I can live with it, but I was just wondering since I want to know all about it before we invest money in an expensive engagement ring.
I really appreciate any answers I can get! Pictures would be great, too! Thank you!!!! 🙂
