I would go with your choice. It’s your ring afterall.

You should get what you and your Fiance like best. Your mother is neither purchasing nor wearing this ring. She gets no say whatsoever.

It’s your ring, not hers!  If you want a moissanite, get it! ๐Ÿ™‚

My best friend has a moissanite ring and she loves it. She calls it her space diamonds.

You should get what you love! Your mother isnt going to be wearing the ring on her hand for the rest of her life. ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s weird.  Why would your mother think she has any say so about the ring?

as someone rocking an Asha I say go for the moissy!

The times are a-changin’ mom! Lots of ladies rock and adore their moissanite rings. If that’s what makes you happy, you should have it!

Your ring, your choice (and your SO’s).

Quite frankly, it is not your mother’s decision.

And yes, I think moissanite is a great choice! I wear moissanite studs, pendant and have my new ringset just being finished with a moissanite centre stone and just LOVE it!

You may want to look on Etsy, too, for shops as a few vendors there use recycled gold and such.

From kyleannemetals (1.5 carat round moissanite in recycled gold):

McFarland Designs (all moissanite & recycled gold):

I cannot remember if kateszabone uses recycled gold or not, but she has lovely rings, the following are moissanite:

This is one of my favourites, and was what I was considering going for if I did not go for the one I did!:

I agree with prior posters that you and your Fiance should select a ring and stone that makes you both happy. If he does not want to purchase a diamond, and you do not want to wear a diamond, you do not need to have a diamond to make your mom happy.

However, I absolutely would NOT lie to your mother if she asks if you have a diamond. I would simply say, “Mom, we’ve already discussed this. Neither Fiance nor I wanted a diamond engagement ring.  I do understand it is not what you would have chosen, but I absolutely love it! I’m hoping that you will be happy for me not only that I have found the man of my dreams but also that he was willing to express his love for me by buying me the ring of my dreams!”

@StefLovesJamie:  I am open about my moissanites if anyone asks or gets talking about my jewelery. Some ladies prefer that people continue think it is diamond. It is entirely up to you.

But personally, I think you should be confident in your choice, and be proud of it!

My parents would definetly flip out if they knew Im getting a moissanite- Im telling them its a diamond. I obviously cant tell you what to do, since im in some what a situation like yours.. But I do believe you should do what makes you happy. It sucks how sometimes parents have such a strong say even when its a more personal thing that your happy with. ๐Ÿ™ Good luck!
