@vintagestef lol!!! That would be hilarious! Here MOM you can have what YOU want…NOW LEAVE MY MOISSY ALONE!!

My mother was proposed to with a .5ct solitaire in yellow gold, her band was a plain yellow gold band. My father later gave her a…1ct? Anniversary band with 5 stones? 1 for each anniversary I think. Then, after 25 years of marriage, she threatened a divorce and he bought her TWO massive rings. She told me the only thing I should look at is a DIAMOND at LEAST 2cts. I shouldn’t even consider anything under 2cts. Sorry, all set. I love my 1ct moissy!

Make sure you post pics of your ring when you do get it…I have a bit of an obsession with looking at ring bling ๐Ÿ™‚ What setting did you pick? Round? Square?

@StefLovesJamie:  Sounds like both of you (you and your FI) would be unhappy with a diamond engagement ring, so I’m actually surprised you are even considering getting one. If she asks it is a diamond, just say, “I don’t see how that’s relevant” and see what she says. You could also say its between you and your Fiance and she is free to think whatever she wants.

@StefLovesJamie:  I think once people see it in person too, their opinions tend to be less judgy.

I learned about moissy on wedding bee and mine arrived a month ago. I chose it – and love love love its history, shine, and that it isn’t a diAmond. We can afford a diamond but I would ratare have a moissanite.  My mother-in-law has very traditional values and would be mortified if she knew- we just haven’t voluneered it. My own mum has rocked a 2.5 carat diamond forever – we told her and she didn’t understand our choice. But it was our choice and i am sooooo glad we followed through – I think it is the best little shiny stone and I love telling the Moissanite story to my friends. i have two who are planning to buy it themselves now… This ring is for you – not your community. I bought mine from moissaniteco and bought an amora in an old European cut. It is breathtaking!

@StefLovesJamie:  Not that it matters anymore, since you already ordered your ring, but I have several friends that wanted an eco-friendly option and didn’t want a non-diamond, so many of them went with recycled or “heirloom” stones (i.e. found them at an incredible discount in a pawn shop, etc). Unfortunately, even though some people are eco-conscious, others are not, and once it’s mined, the damage is done…Though as we know, recycling can lessen the impact of how much we mine, so this was an acceptable option for some of my friends. Anyway, just a thought. I personally love moissanite ๐Ÿ™‚ Congrats and happy waiting. (It might make you a little crazy though… tee hee).

@StefLovesJamie:  ha! that’s exactly the reson why my SO got excited about it. he was like “how cool would it be to have that kind of story? awesome!”

until that point he was like “erm…. really?”

    i love geek men.
