Hey Bees–I really need to decide on my ring if I am going to get it in time for my 5 year anniversary. I’ve been lurking and debating for months, and it’s time to get serious! Thanks to several real life pictures, I’ve decided on MoissaniteCo’s eng689 (formerly Asha’s Evelynn).
I want to get the 689 with a 1.25ct unenhanced center stone in 14k white gold on my 6.25 finger ($825). Here’s a pic of the 1ct version:
Here’s my dilemma. MoissaniteCo has my ring on sale, but it’s with a 1.5ct center stone and in palladium, neither of which I was wanting ($810). Here’s a pic of the 2ct version:
There’s obviously a much better value if I get the one on sale, not to mention that it is $15 cheaper for a ring that should be $185 more.
So should I get the 1.25 I want, or get the less expensive 1.5? I am worried that it will look a bit silly how big it is at 1.5. I am a school teacher and I’m not flashy or showy with anything else. The fact that it will be unenhanced would just show more color in a bigger stone, too. Feel free to comment on the fact that I’m getting unenhanced, but I’m pretty decided on that. People with unenhanced always sound happy with their rings!
The second issue is that the sale version has palladium, not white gold. I keep seeing the word “brittle” when bees write about palladium, and it freaks me out! Any comments on the palladium v. white gold debate? Sorry this is so long…
Also, please post your round moissanite (1-1.5 preffered, but all are welcome)! Please say where you got it, the center stone size, etc.

Go with the one you love – the price difference is too marginal for you to pick something you don’t LOVE.

I have a .75ct on a 4.5ish finger.
Honestly, I don’t know how noticeable the .25ct jump from 1.25 to 1.5 would be. I don’t know much about palladium so I can’t really help there.

@mepayne: I love yours! It’s the perfect size for your finger.

@ceebree: I have to agree with @abirdword: 100%. You’d only be saving $15 if you went with the 1.5 ct in palladium, so it’s not like the savings would be substantial. It’s totally not worth it to get something you don’t completely love in order to save a mere $15.
I can’t help you in terms of moissanite pictures or knowledge, and I honestly don’t know anything about palladium … Sorry I’m no help there! I do have a white gold engagement ring, though, and I love it.

I’ve actually looked at their Sale page a lot, and then I had this thought… The rings on sale are most likely ones that were sent out to customers and then returned. What if they were returned because the stones are yellower than usual? A lot of bees have remarked about returning unusually yellow stones. Not worth the risk. Buy the one you want!!
I have a 7 mm unenhanced moissanite (and yes I do love it) in a halo in palladium on a 5 finger, and I got mine from Moissanite Co as well 🙂

@ceebree: Thank you! According to this chart I’ve seen floating around, your ring will be about the same coverage.

Get the one you want! I have a 7.5 mm unenhanced from the sale section. I do wonder why someone returned it! By the way, I love palladium and the unenhanced is fine with me. That said, I never did get used to the size… mythical shrinkage? Find myself wearing it much less often than hoped. Don’t be swayed by the very small price difference, if it wasn’t something you had been considering already.

Thanks ladies! You all seem to agree that I should get the smaller one that I originall wanted. I’ll keep you updated when I order and get the ring!
